About Danita

As a former A.P. Chemistry teacher in Kentucky, with excellent success rate on the AP Chem exam, I began tutoring Chemistry when I moved to Colorado last summer. On maternity leave from my Chemistry Teaching job in Douglas County, I find that tutoring is even more fun than teaching. I try to break the learning down into its simplest elements. I have paid much attention to where students go wrong and how to avoid those mistakes. I love chemistry and algebra, and I try to make that love of the subjects infectious. My students and their parents recommend me. As a former A.P. Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Homeschool

I worked in a bilingual Montessori for a year as a Teacher's Aide, during which time I learned a lot about the Montessori methods as a facilitator who helps the child learn what he or she wants or needs to learn. I have investigated several homeschool curricula in the hopes of homeschooling my own son when he reaches school age (he's almost two now.) Plus I have an engineering Master's degree which makes me more than qualified in math and science, and I'm an avid reader, which makes me a very good writer. My own early study of Latin helped facilitate my learning French and Spanish and my ease with language helped me learn a good amount of German in college. Plus I love teaching, which is why I switched from engineering and got a Master's degree in Education.
