Public Speaking

I currently coach CX Debate at a local school district. At this school, I have qualified students for UIL State and for NFL National Qualifiers. I have judged the following events for UIL, NFL, TFA, and NTDA for the past five years: CX/Policy debate, Lincoln-Douglas debate, Public Forum, Student Congress, Original Oratory, Prose, Poetry, Persuasive, Informative, Domestic Extemp, Foreign Extemp, Dramatic Interp, and Duo Acting. Also, I judged CX/Policy debate at the NFL National Championships in 2009 (Birmingham, Alabama), 2010 (Kansas City, Missouri), and 2011 (Dallas, Texas.) In addition to this, I judged nearly every event at the 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 NFL Qualifying District meets for the LBJ NFL District. I was honored to be a UIL CX Finals judge in 2011. Part of my student teaching was for Competition Debate at Aubrey High School. They had 5 National Qualifiers that year. I was a volunteer coach for the Decatur Debate Team for four years. They won the 2010 3A UIL State Silver Medal for CX/Policy debate, a Top Ten Medal for Student Congress at the 2010 TFA State Meet, and qualified two CX/Policy teams and one Congressperson.

American History

I hold a Bachelor's degree in History. I've worked as a history teacher at both high school and college levels. Additionally, in graduate school, I worked as a public history assistant at the Texas State Historical Association.

Social Studies

I am a certified social studies teacher in two states- Utah and Texas. Also, my Master's degree is in Secondary Education with an emphasis in Social Studies Education. My knowledge base in this area is solid.

In college, I took several sociology classes as electives and was quite successful in all of them. I also took and passed the Sociology CLEP test.

Speech

I judge a variety of debate/speech/forensic events on the weekends (see Public Speaking request.) I also student taught for Speech/Debate and acted as a volunteer forensics coach for four years.

I taught GED classes to incarcerated students for one year. My subject specializations were Social Studies and English.
