Regis University (Accounting)
I have about five years experience now tutoring accounting and I truly love every minute of it. While in my undergraduate at Regis University I was employed as a tutor all four years and assisted hundreds of students in grasping accounting concepts and theories. I think the key to my success as a tutor over the years is that I love to see my students succeed. Seeing accounting concepts "click" for students is the most rewarding part of tutoring for me.
Given how immersed I have been in accounting for the past six years, I possess an in depth understanding of the subject matter. This understanding allows me to simplify the topics for my students. I have often had students remark that they have learned more with me in an hour than with their professors in a month. By simplifying complex topics and pointing out connections that make material easier to remember, I have accelerated my students' learning. I possess very efficient and effective teaching methods that have helped a myriad of students succeed; which is my ultimate goal.
I went to Regis University for my undergraduate and obtained a degree in accounting. In order to attain my CPA Licensure in the State of Colorado I took the required 150 credits in four years and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a G.P.A of 3.971. I took 15 accounting classes in my undergraduate for a total of 45 credits. The summer following my graduation I passed all four CPA exams and at the end of the summer I started work in audit and assurance at a Big Four accounting firm in downtown Denver. I have now been in public accounting for 1.5 years and perform in depth analysis on financial statements each and every day in my current position. Also, having recently (within a year) passed the CPA exam, I can assist students with nearly every accounting topic they may have a question with. I have five years of accounting tutoring experience and have tutored hundreds of individuals. I find a personalized way to help each individual understand the material.
My CPA Exam Scores were FAR (Financial Accounting and Reporting): 94, Regulation: 90, BEC (Business Environment and Concepts): 92, and Auditing and Attestation: 95.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
