I have 28 years' experience in teaching biology/ecology and earth science. I was one of the authors of a textbook judged to be the best textbook by the AAAS. Upon retiring, I worked as the Public Outreach Coordinator for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 8 in Denver, Colorado. I was responsible for informing the public, federal and state agencies, school children to college age students about the importance of wetlands. I was, in a sense, still teaching. I also was a writer and photographer for many documents about wetlands and other aquatic resources. I have many years of experience in teaching students about nature in the field. I still enjoy teaching students in schools and other locations as well. This past August I was the scientist in charge of the BioBlitz effort in Rocky Mountain National Park. I was responsible for working with Advance Placement Biology/Environmental Science students from two high schools. They collected and identified macroinvertebrates in a lake in the Park. This was on 8/24. The next day I identified wetland plants for the public. This was a huge effort in collaboration with the National Geographic Society and drew several thousands of people. I can teach the use of a microscope in order to identify small organisms that students may be curious about as well a requirement for a biology class. Summer of 2013 is a time for field work in the ecology of lakes, ponds and streams. Forest ecology will also be included. We have a great laboratory in the national forest and national park. Field trips will be for a half day in these locations. Sign up today for an experience that you won't forget. This summer is prime time for ecological field work and the there is no greater laboratory than the forest, lakes, streams and wetlands of the mountains and plains. Don't wait, contact me now for a great experience.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I studied all aspects of zoology from kingdom, genus, and species of all animal groups. I have a strong background in parasitology. I am knowledgeable in the disease of animals and the relationship to humans. I have completed some field work in animal habitat. Everything from protozoa to worms, fish, birds, mammals to humans was studied in the laboratory and outdoors.
