I've always loved learning. I know understanding certain subjects may be difficult for students, so I've worked to help them better obtain the knowledge they need. Whether I was tutoring peers older than me, younger, or my age, I chose to help those around me succeed.

Now that I'm in college, I've been working as a substitute for Belle Creek Charter and at their after school program, Springboard Education. My students in Springboard often struggle in subjects ranging from history to math....

My students in Springboard often struggle in subjects ranging from history to math. It is wonderful to watch them grow as learners from the beginning of the year to the end. Prior to Belle Creek, I helped truant students in their classes at Adams City High School through AmeriCorps' program at Colorado Youth for a Change. At Adams City, I was able to connect to students in a matter of weeks and show them someone believed in them. Their ACT prep was outdated, so being able to help was meaningful. In the fall, I plan to attend Adams State University to further my education and finish my degree in order to continue teaching.

Math can often intimidate people. My approach with a math problem is to break it down into what the student knows and is comfortable with, and continue from there. Since everyone learns differently, every subject is going to be different.

Feel free to contact me if you're struggling with any of my subjects!

Elementary Math

Elementary Math

My experience working with elementary students on their homework packets in the after school program and helping them during the day as a substitute has given me insight to their level of math. They break down problems to better understand why things like division, for example, are happening. This can sometimes be confusing, so I use different techniques with students to help them better understand their math.

ACT Reading

ACT Reading

When I was in High School, I helped students prepare for the ACT with an updated study guide. There are several tricks to taking the reading portion of the ACT that I would love to share with new students.

Homeschool

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I worked as a Lead Teacher in an after school program that helped students with math such as Algebra. I was also a substitute at the same school and worked closely with the math teacher in order to better assist our students. This allowed me to help with both Algebra and Algebra II.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

I worked as a Lead Teacher in an after school program that assisted with math such as Algebra II. In addition, I was a substitute at the same school and worked closely with the math teacher in order to better assist our students. This allowed me to help with both Algebra and Algebra II.
Calculus,

Calculus

As a current college student, I've recently taken Calculus. I have several textbooks I use to tutor, and I find going back to Pre-Calc can sometimes explain how Calculus works.
Geometry,

Geometry

I worked with students on their online math as well as their MathMates. Both included geometry, so I've learned helpful tips to better assist my students.
Prealgebra,

Prealgebra

My background as a substitute and an after school program's Lead Teacher has given me plenty of insight in Algebra. I also have textbooks and worksheets to help with any additional practice one might need.
Precalculus,

Precalculus

When taking Pre-Calc and Calculus, I came upon several textbooks to help my fellow classmates understand the classes. Pre-Calc is mostly based on trigonometry, so going back to certain rules can help explain why problems work out differently in Pre-Calc. I prefer to build a foundation to the subject and continue from there to ensure my students' knowledge of the subject is expanding.

Trigonometry

Trigonometry is one of my favorite subjects. When helping others understand Trig, I pull out all my tools and find different ways of explaining a solution. My worksheets provide examples for students to follow, especially since practice helps in a subject like Trig.

My time in High School helped me prepare students for the ACT. The science part of the ACT can be overwhelming, so I like to show students simpler ways to solve the problems at hand. I also provide a study guide for this portion.
