Hi, I'm John! I'm a rising sophomore majoring in Computer Science at U.C Berkeley. I graduated as Salutatorian from High School in 2017.

Over the course of my academic career, peer-teaching and tutoring has been a passion of mine. Whether it be helping out fellow class-mates with struggling with their assignments, or teaching structured SAT classes, teaching has always been a way for me to not only help others, but reinforce my own knowledge. Throughout high school, I peer-taught economics, history, and writing as my school's Academic Decathlon captain. While at Cal, I was a teacher with a student org called PTPS where I taught free SAT writing courses for underprivileged Bay Area students.

I have a solid background in advanced mathematics that relies on algebra fundamentals, from differential equations, linear algebra, and discrete mathematics. In terms of hard qualifications, I received a 5 on the AP Calculus BC exam, as well as a 770 on the SAT Math II subject test.

I taught SAT Reading and Writing during my tenure as a teacher with Cal's PTPS, and thus am comfortable and well versed in all facets of this half of the SAT, including the Essay.

In terms of hard qualifications, I received a 770 on the Reading and an 800 on the Writing portions of the old SAT, as well as a 5 in both AP Literature and AP Language and Composition.

Computer Science is my major at Cal, so that counts for something, right?

In terms of experience, I've completed various coding projects while at Cal, including a lite-version of Google maps using open-source data that involved integrating a front-end web interface with a Java-based back-end that handled rasterization and graph search (A*), and a "Plants vs Zombies" analogue game that involved deep Object Oriented programing in Python.

When my parents would take me to Costco as a little kid, I'd always bug them into buying a book. One of those trips, I happened upon a textbook sized behemoth detailing the Second World War. Ever since then, I've developed a love for history, particularly the Cold War era, but I consider myself well versed in US history in general.

In terms of hard qualifications, I received a 5 in AP US History, a 5 in AP European History, and a 770 on the SAT U.S History Subject test.

Please feel free to contact me any time! I'm excited to be your future tutor!
