Since buying my first Mac Plus in 1984, I've used nearly every Apple product, operating system, and application. I've helped many friends and acquaintances over the years by directing them to the most appropriate hardware and software to best serve their needs, helping set up their systems, and troubleshooting problems when they've arisen.
Along the way, in addition to a career in TV production, I've had a secondary career as a freelance video editor after
learning and becoming proficient with Apple's Final Cut Pro software, versions 6, 7, and X.
Now semi-retired, I have extra free time and the eagerness to help other people learn, maximize, and enjoy the benefits
of the Apple way with hands-on tutoring at any location that's convenient for each student. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I've been using Adobe Lightroom daily for almost two years.
I just retired after a 35 year career as a camera operator in film and television production. In the early 1980's I worked on the feature films "Oh God! 2, Firefox, Sudden Impact," and "Beverly Hills Cop." In 1986 I began doing television sitcoms including "Newhart, Seinfeld, Becker,
The New Adventures of Old Christine," and "Whitney."
I can teach students how all the elements and professional skills are
combined and led by directors to create a finished production.
I bought my first Macintosh Plus in 1984, following the Apple's famous award winning TV commercial that aired during that year's Super Bowl.
In the decades since then I've used nearly every Apple product and application, helping friends and acquaintances choose hardware, software, establish, upgrade, and troubleshoot their systems. Along the way I learned how to use Final Cut Pro to develop a supplementary freelance video editing career.
I can guide students to choose the best and most appropriate items
to create and set up Macintosh systems. I can also teach them how
to use various software applications, including Final Cut Pro 7 and X.
A 36 year career as a camera operator in the film and television industries has given me a solid foundation in frame composition, perspective, exposure, and lighting, the building blocks of photography. I am also a portrait photographer and I can help students in these areas as well as photo editing and distribution. I'm familiar with Mac versions of Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, along with iOS software to adjust and enhance photos created and/or viewed on iPhones and iPads.
In addition to a long career in film and television production, I became a Certified Legal Video Specialist in 1987, establishing a production company called Law In Motion Video Productions that produced video depositions and documentaries for law firms to use in civil litigation.
This required me to take video, sound, and lighting equipment to many locations around the Los Angeles Metropolitan area to record witness testimony in conference rooms and capture product liability demonstrations, day-in-the-life routines, property inventories, and probate matters. I can help students learn how to set up and operate cameras, audio recording gear, lights, create shot coverage and composition, and set etiquette.
I can also teach students editing and post production with Apple's Final Cut Pro application, versions 7 and X.
