“**Great Tutor!**”

Over many years it has been a thrill to see my students increase their grades in math, science and English as well as their scores on the SAT and ACT tests. I enjoy seeing students get the "ah-ha" moment when they begin to comprehend.

I am a National Merit Finalist who has tutored and taught classes extensively, including AP Calculus,

Kathy has been so helpful as my tutor! Kathy is very prompt about getting back to you over the phone and makes it simple to set up an appointment. She believes in her students and goes above and beyond to help them. There are few tutors or professors I've come across who are amazing at what they do and who see their students' potential. I am very proud to say that Kathy is one of them.

With Kathy's help, I jumped two full letter grades! When I first came to Kathy, I was working with a low "C" in a math class I was taking. Throughout the course and after having completed the final I jumped the 2 full letter grades from a "C" to an "A" with her help! Believe it or not, if you listen and put in the time, you'll see results.

Kathy helped my son review Algebra 1 for a placement exam he had to take. She only had 3 lessons to accomplish this and he had not thought about math all summer long! Kathy was flexible with meeting times and got him right into review. She was very encouraging to him. She was attentive to his needs. I recommend her for all of the above reasons. I know who to call in the future when my son needs extra help with math.

Thank you Kathy for your help.

Our son wanted to focus on SAT strategies (he felt good on the content), so he had several sessions with Kathy leading up to the Test. Kathy's insight and input were invaluable to George, both in terms of practical tips and validating his confidence going into the Test. Her subject matter expertise and Test knowledge are impressive, as is her ability to quickly identify opportunities and address them. Our son has just sat his SAT, and feels very positive about it... so we will see! Kathy comes highly recommended.

Kathy is helping me study for the GRE. Kathy is able to explain any questions that I have about any section.

I am so happy that I found a tutor who is patient, soft-spoken and kind. I think my daughter will slowly improve once she believes in herself and doesn't freeze up during a test.

We really like her, even though she is a little far from where we live. But the drive is worth it!

Kathy knows the material very well and is great at explaining it until I understand it. Would recommend this tutor to anyone who is looking for help on math. She's great.

Kathy tutored my daughter in math for for her SAT. In a mere two weeks she went over the main concepts she needed, and many helpful tricks as well. Her kindness and encouragement also did wonders for my daughter's confidence. Thanks Kathy!

Kathy was very helpful with my teen in preparing for the SAT/ACT. She was very helpful. Her rates are reasonable and she was very patient. Thank you Kathy.

Kathy is terrific! She has been working my daughter since late last year trying to get her grade up. My daughter loves working with her. She is patient, knowledgeable and skilled in instruction. Since Kathy has started tutoring my daughter in math, she has brought up her grade two levels.

So very thankful to have found Kathy to help my daughter with her Calculus. She is so very patient to make sure that my daughter comprehended everything being taught to her. Her knowledge is really helping my daughter and I'm now relieved that my daughter is working towards getting a better grade with the help of Kathy! Thank you!

Kathy is an outstanding tutor. She's calm, patient and very knowledgeable. She provides some techniques to help the student understand the principles. She seems genuinely concerned about helping the student do better.

My daughter likes her tutoring time with Kathy. She always has a big smile on her face after every tutoring lesson with Kathy. She said I'm in Math Heaven because I understood everything and that I'm going to get an A. She can do her homework in an hour and not hours like before. She has gained a lot of confidence in her ability of solve difficult Algebra problems on her own. Kathy is patient and knows how to simplify math equations and makes it easy for my daughter to understand.

My daughter was given the option to try multiple tutors so she could find one that would best fit her needs. Kathy Z was our first tutor and our last, there was no need to search any further. My daughter is very comfortable with Kathy and feels that she will succeed in raising her scores on her ACT and SAT test. Thank you Kathy.

Right from the start, Kathy Z. made me feel as though I had the ability to become proficient in accounting. Kathy Z. was very patient and did not mind going over material until I grasped the concept. I plan on using Kathy Z. in future courses. I always leave a tutoring session feeling empowered.

As with most tutors, I expected to drop my kid off and have her get smart and pass classes. Not only did that happen, but we gained a friend and mentor. My daughter struggled in Pre-Calculus and Spanish 2, but she passed them both with great thanks to "Kathy Z". At the end of last year, it was hard to say goodbye. My daughter had grown to enjoy the tutoring nights. So this year with the ACT around the corner, we called up "Kathy Z" and got right back to one on one studies to prepare for the big ACT test. I can't thank Kathy Z enough for all she's done not only academically for my daughter but mentally and as a Mentor, I thank you!

If your searching around for a tutor - you've got the best one right here! Don't keep looking, send her a request and she'll get right back with you! She's got hundreds of hours because all the kids love her!

I came to Kathy last minute needing help preparing for a math final. Not only did she make an exception and meet with me outside her usual tutoring hours, but she had her own material prepared for me. She is patient and knowledgeable. I highly recommend her!

I have always had trouble with math. So after doing horrible on my first business calculus exam, I knew I needed someone like Kathy. Let me just say there is nobody like her. She was very patient and understanding. She answered all of my questions thoroughly, while maintaining a positive vibe throughout every session. As I mentioned math is my weakest subject and she somehow made me feel comfortable with it. She was also sort of like a mother figure, making sure that I wasn't hungry, thirsty, was getting my sleep, and eating well. Although these are all good characteristics, what sets her apart from any other tutor is the fact that she is willing buckle down and get every problem done, I AM NOT KIDDING! There was one session where I met with her at 9 p.m after work, and she stayed up with me until 3 a.m! Just so that I get get 3 extra credit points( they were heavily needed). That's 6 HOURS STRAIGHT! What more can I say after that. She is easily the best tutor. She did not get annoyed, definitely a trooper. My grade went up from an F to a C+! Again she is easily the best tutor. Thank you for everything Kathy, I could not have done it without you!

Kathy has been the perfect tutor for my son with preparation for the ACT and SAT, focusing on Math. My son is a good student with the exception of Math. His confidence is low in that subject and he has a lot of anxiety about standardized tests. Kathy has not only helped his skills, she has helped boost his confidence with her understanding and support. I was expecting to be dragging him to every session. But after his first experience with Kathy, he saw the whole situation differently. Kathy has been terrific.

I have only received tutoring in math but the tutoring I have received thus far has been good. She is patient and willing to listen to your individual needs.

My daughter has had several sessions with Kathy Z. for Algebra 1 B. She takes time to explain the new concepts, and her face lights up with a cheery smile when a student has an "aha" moment. In my daughter's words, "Kathy makes my brain cells work." I would recommend a great tutor like Kathy to anyone in a heartbeat.

Thanks Kathy for making Algebra easier for my daughter!

Excellent teacher, very patient, very easy to reach... Definitely a pleasure to deal with!

After working with Kathy my daughters’ grades have improved immensely. She is kind, patient and able to bring out the best in my two girls who have very different temperaments and personalities. It is very gratifying as a parent to see your child have the “ah ha” moment. Kathy made that possible. She demystified algebra and made it understandable, which in turn gave my girls confidence. She is absolutely wonderful!

I came into this just picking a tutor online and did not have high hopes. However, from the minute I met her, I felt much differently. She knew what she was talking about, was patient, and did not grow the least bit frustrated when I was having trouble. She was kind enough to put me in her schedule on almost no notice. She is definitely a tutor that I would not hesitate to use again or recommend to anyone else!!

Kathy is a very seasoned tutor with great ability on delivering the material in a very effective way. She has so many tools that helped my daughter gain a great understanding and efficiency in preparing for her SAT. She instilled great confidence and made the lessons a time to look forward to.

Thank you so much for your help. I would highly recommend Kathy to any parent searching for the right help for their kids, especially in preparing for the SAT.

Kathy is truly a gift! she is helping my daughter w/ Pre-algebra and she is understanding it much better! Highly recommended!

Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I served as the tutor of several Business students, and tutored one of them all the way through his Business degree. I earned an "A" in Accounting and enjoy giving students clarity about the concepts in ways not explained in the texts. Certain anchors, accounting facts which are repeated frequently in problems, make Accounting more logical for you.

For 15 years, I have tutored test prep privately and in small classes, and have received top scores on tests myself.

The English portion of the ACT is doable. There are some spelling, punctuation and capitalization items tested on the ACT which are not on the SAT.

I will review content with you, coach you for speed, and survey techniques to improve your score.

Some of the tricks and strategies I teach are unique to my course and not available anywhere else.

The Math portion of the ACT is considerably easier for some than the SAT Math. The questions are straight-forward and often simple questions on common math facts. While the ACT Math may have an occasional trig or log problem, they are rare and you can be coached in how to approach them.

I will review content with you, coach you for speed, and survey techniques to improve your score.

The Reading portion of the ACT, even the difficult questions, can be attacked with a number of techniques. I show you how to get most of the answers without spending too much time reading.

The Science portion of the ACT, even the difficult questions, can be attacked with a number of techniques. You do not have to be an expert in science topics such as Biology, Chemistry or Physics to be successful on this section of the test.

In many cases, getting the answer just requires inspecting charts and graphs and adding a little common sense or logic.

The Science portion of the ACT does not require much knowledge of common science topics. While it is helpful to be comfortable with the scientific data and terms, most of what you need can be extracted from the information which is given.

Often, the science questions are based upon charts and graphs. You are asked to extract data, identify the details needed, or draw logical conclusions with those facts.

Algebra 2 is one of my favorite topics. I have handouts, tips and memory devices to help you conquer this subject thoroughly.

For example, I have a brochure of several pages with the secrets you need to do logarithm problems quickly and easily. I have unique techniques on certain common Algebra 2 functions which will make you more efficient.

Coaching is effective in raising your grade.

In addition to my academic study of theology, I have studied the Bible extensively on a private level and in church. I have systematically read the entire Bible almost 3 times and understand the major points of theology and which scriptures relate to them.

Over my years of math tutoring, I have tutored Calculus many times.

When a local teacher who is a friend of mine was ill for 7 weeks, I took over his AP Calculus class.

I like to simplify the concepts, such as distinguishing between the derivative and the function value.

I would like to coach you to better performance.

The CBEST test examines basic verbal and math skills which teachers are expected to have. It is an easier test that the SAT in which I am an also an expert.

Over my 20 years of tutoring, I have helped multiple students conquer the CBEST. One teacher on an emergency credential had failed the test 2 times and was told by her school that if she didn't pass the next time, she would lose her job. I'm happy to report she passed! Learning techniques to handle difficult problems as well as reviewing content gives your score the boost it needs.

I have a master's degree in Computer Science from CSUF and have taught COBOL at both East Los Angeles College and Cal State Northridge.

I have a Master's degree in Computer Science and was a full-time computer programmer for 12 years. Most programming languages follow common techniques and can be deciphered. Call to discuss your need and see whether I can help.

I enjoy showing students the analytical skills to be able to decipher programming languages and logic. Universal principles apply to all languages. I write intricate spreadsheets with amazing features.

I have a M.S. in Comp Sci from Cal State Fullerton, took various technical seminars, and studied Access database at Pierce College.

I taught in the Computer Department at East Los Angeles College in 1983 and CSU Northridge in 1990.

For 10 years, I was a computer programmer and manager of several programming employees, working at Sears, Security Pacific (a bank bought by B of A), Great Western Savings(bought out by WaMu), and the Metropolitan Water District.

I tutor virtually all math through Calculus. Though Discrete Math does not usually deal with Calculus, it concerns itself with topics such as integers, sets, graphs, and logic with which I am very familiar.

I have tutored Finite Math with involves many Discrete Math topics also. My Master's degree in Computer Science also dealt with Discrete Math topics such as computer algorithms, programming languages, etc.

Through many years of tutoring, I have helped many elementary math students to enjoy math.

Whether you're an adult or a child, we can greatly improve your math functioning. With children especially, I play games with manipulative devices that are fun and at the same time encourage math understanding.

I hope my love of math is contagious.

Finite Math may contain a number of math topics, depending on the course. For example, it can include combinations and permutations, probability, etc. Sometimes statistics and logic are included. It is similar to or overlapping with topics in discrete math (separate, not continuous numbers).

For over 20 years I have been tutoring high school math which has often included finite math, discrete math, and math analysis which have various combinations of topics. I have handouts prepared for many of these topics and have successfully helped students to understand them.

I tutor a great deal of Precalculus, which is a lot of Trig, but sometimes includes finite math topics as well, such as sets and vectors. Finite Math can include even Business math, and I have tutored several students through Business degrees or Algebra dealing with interest and loans.

Since I have had success in helping students outside WyzAnt, I would now like to offer this service to my WyzAnt students as well.

Throughout my tutoring, Geometry has been a prominent subject.

There is no substitute for learning the postulates and theorems, since having them at the forefront of your mind increases your ability to know what to do next.

Let me show you the structure of Geometry logic. I have a system for learning how to do proofs which will help you dramatically.

There are many other techniques for various types of Geometry problems. Let's try them with you.

I enjoyed studying German in college, and lived in Germany a short time.

I have continued to use the language with my family members and have a native German speaker in my household.

I would like to make the language more clear for you.

Hello.

I have 25 years' experience tutoring elementary and high school students. Many of those have been home-schooled.

I have taught Geometry, Algebra 2, and SAT prep for home school groups in addition to doing individual tutoring. My SAT / ACT course has been taught at several private schools over the years (at one of those schools for 6 years), and at California State University at Northridge's summer program for high school students (including homeschoolers) for 8 years with 6 students achieving an increase in SAT score over 400 points in 5 weeks of intensive tutoring. (It's true! Two students went up 430 points.)

I am familiar with homeschool teaching considerations such as flexible schedules, out-of-the-ordinary educational activities (such as solving a maze planted in a cornfield!), alternate teaching methods and curricula, making sure that the instruction is at a professional level, and self-schooling using self-direction and parent review along with record-keeping and a myriad of computer resources available now.

My love for home-schooling was increased by home-schooling my own son for 6 years from age 7 to 13.

I believe in home schooling and support the growing trend which enables students to excel dramatically in their area of interest, such as the Spelling Bee, Scouting merit badges, starting a part-time business, or trying out for the Olympics.

However, I also serve as an academic accountability partner to gauge the quality of the education for homeschoolers and make suggestions. My most enjoyable function is to provide the lectures in areas such as high school math for which the student may not have a teacher in the home.

I have actively tutored ISEE in the past. The content involves relatively easy academic material. Students can raise their score by doing content review on the ISEE topics.

Additionally, I can offer my expertise in test prep in general. Many of the same techniques which apply to SAT tests will enable an ISEE student to get the problems right, even sometimes when they don't know the answers or where to start.

I am skilled at encouraging students and building their skills in test-taking, including the ISEE.

Precalculus is one of the major math topics I tutor. Some years I have 6 or so Precalc students.

I have been successful in laying the foundation for rapid improvements for my students in the main topics of trig, exponential and log functions, advanced functions and graphs, and so forth.

My students have also been helped by handouts on specific Precalc topics. You can succeed at this math with the right coaching.

Having taught SAT preparation for 15 years, I am amply qualified to guide students to their best performance on the PSAT. I can coach students in the same techniques which have been used by some of my students to raise their scores over 400 points. Focused instruction can make a huge difference in your outcome.

I taught test prep for Kaplan Test Services, the oldest test preparation company.

Using knowledge gained while teaching hundreds of SAT classes, I compiled materials which have proven markedly successful in helping students raise their SAT scores.

I used these course materials when teaching a summer SAT class for high school students at CSUN for 8 years. Additional classes have been taught at local high schools and private locations.

A couple of my students had taken the test 3 times with about the same score and then had a dramatic leap in score after my tutoring.

Several of my students have literally increased over 400 points (430 highest) within a short time of intense tutoring. A notable number of students have gotten scholarships after raising SAT scores with my coaching.

I have invented a number of math techniques which I have not seen anywhere else. My hobby is reviewing other SAT books to glean what is valuable for my students to benefit from.

I have also been successful in relieving test anxiety with some surprising information which puts students at ease. Techniques which save several minutes on the test enable you to get more problems right.

I hope my enthusiasm for this subject rubs off on you.

I learned to sew as a teen and made many garments for myself and my family. That included difficult projects such as easing fabric into squared designs or shoulders, working with stretch fabrics, working with lace, etc. I also knit and crochet. I have knit my own sweater, among other items, and made a needlepoint chairseat.
