I am passionate about lifelong learning. I have been a tutor for over ten years, starting by tutoring my neighbor's children while in high school, and continuing to tutor and mentor during my undergraduate career at UCLA. I have experience working with children of all ages, as I am currently a Substitute Teacher for LAUSD. I have worked in early education, elementary, and have tutored elementary, middle, and high school students, as well as adults.
Tutoring allows me to work one-on-one with a student, while addressing their unique educational needs. I love that tutoring allows me to help a student see their own potential, gain self-confidence in their strengths, and turn a hated subject into a loved one. I strongly believe education is empowering.
I consider math to be another language in which I am well-versed; I am qualified to tutor math up to Algebra 2. I am proficient in teaching elementary math, according to the Common Core State Standards.
While at UCLA, I majored in Spanish, and also studied French and Portuguese. I had the opportunity to study abroad in both Spain and France. I received perfect scores on the AP Spanish Language and AP Spanish Literature exams, as well as a score of 800 on the SAT Subject Test. I specialize in all levels of Spanish, and can tutor beginning/intermediate French and Portuguese.
During the academic school year, I am available for tutoring evenings after 4pm. During the summer, I will be available from 9am-9pm, with the exception of Tuesdays and Thursdays (9am-5pm) and Saturdays. I can travel to students or meet them online. My base rate is $60/hour for in-person lessons, and $50/hour for online lessons. I can offer lesson packages, and multiple-child discounts- contact me for details!

My daughter received great attention and was very satisfied with her time with her. She is looking forward to seeing her every week, during this school year.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am qualified to tutor Elementary (K-6th) because I work as a Substitute Teacher for LAUSD. We are expected to know subjects taught at this grade level, including Math, Reading, Writing (Including Cursive), English-Language Arts (ELA), English Language Development (ELD), Science, Social Studies, and Art. Tutoring methods vary, from written and oral exercises, audiovisual reinforcement (videos and presentations), and projects.
