I have been a teacher for 10 years. I have taught grades kindergarten to eighth grade. I am a home school tutor for the Los Nietos school district and instruct students who have been injured or may be pending expulsion.
Currently, I teach 6-8 grade students with emotional disturbance. This allows me to not only have students reach their goals academically but teach them skills to help with frustration.
Besides teaching, I do many things in the community. I coach high school baseball. I've been a band director at the elementary school level. I am an Eagle Scout and a scoutmaster of a troop. I enjoy many things and have many interest that can help me connect with many students.
I am able to connect with most students and bring their interest into the field of math. I teach patterns in math that will allow students to grasp concepts that will lead to understanding most algebraic concepts. I have taught grades k through 8 and tutored high school students. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have played baseball for over 20 years. I have coached various levels. I coached for the city of Whittier at Sorenson Park and Whittier Pony baseball. I coached for the city of Santa Fe Springs with Kids and Sports. I coached the 2003 World Series Champions Pico Rivera Terminators. I have also coached freshman baseball at Whittier High School. Currently, I am coaching at Pioneer High School.
I have played clarinet for 25 years. I have played for numerous ensembles during that time including Whittier High School and Saint Gregory's Catholic Church. I was the band director at Nelson Elementary School for three years.
