University of La Verne (Communications)
I have helped students in the past who have needed extra support with a certain subject area. When I was in high school, I volunteered an entire summer at a library and helped kids improve in reading and writing. It was a great experience and I love tutoring and being able to watch a student grow.
We all have trouble in a certain academic area, but there is no need to get discouraged or frustrated. We just have to put extra time and effort into that subject area. Tutoring is so nice because not only am I helping someone grow, but they are also helping me grow and teaching me how to be patient and how to listen to them and what they need as an individual. At the end of the day I am there to help out the student and I will be sure to put in as much time and effort as I possibly can.
So being a college student pursuing a degree in Communications I have many things that qualify me to tutor in the English subject area. I have taken multiple writing courses, which include classes that helped me brush up on my writing skills to classes that taught me how to write specific types of stories. I have also taken an Oral Communications class where I was taught how to speak in front of crowds and how to carry myself in different scenarios where I am interacting with people.
Government and Politics is one of my favorite topics to learn about. This subject area is a little bit difficult depending on what grade level you are in, but we should always be up for a challenge. I have taken courses on government and politics, I am currently taking a course right now at my university and it is very interesting. I keep up with politics and will be sure to help your child understand the material.
I am a very friendly and outgoing student. My schedule is flexible and I am willing to meet whenever and wherever a parent and student feel most comfortable. I currently have an academic scholarship at my university, so I know what I am doing. I will help you with whatever you need. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me. If you reach out to me I will be sure to respond to your message. I have helped students in the past who have needed extra support with a certain subject area. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
