About Russel

Bio

Hi, I'm Russel, a full-time engineer. In 2023, I graduated with a BS of Mechanical Engineering at Cal State Fullerton. During my time at university, I built a solid foundation of math and science from my introductory classes and every engineering class thereafter.

I don't have any official teaching experience, but during my undergrad, I helped many classmates through our tough classes. Along the way, I learned valuable studying tips and strategies that I am now ready to pass on.

My teaching method is based on building strong fundamentals and using the basics as building blocks to break down a problem. My goal as a tutor is to build the student's knowledge and confidence needed to succeed in their class and beyond.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

Took many math classes in middle school, high school, and college. Each class built upon the other. As part of my curriculum, I studied up to linear algebra and differential equations. I am a big proponent of starting with the basics, so I will do my best to help the student not get lost.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

Took Algebra 2 twice in high school and once in college. Each math/physics class I took for my program after that touched upon the same elements, so I gained lots of exposure over the years. Alg2 can be a fun subject if you understand the many ways to approach a problem. I will do my best to teach those approaches.
Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical Engineering

During my undergraduate program, I gained a solid understanding of the necessary basic concepts. I still use the knowledge I gained in my day to day at work. Graduated with a 3.5 gpa.
Physics

Physics

In my undergrad program, I had to undergo introductory physics classes and individual classes for both mechanical physics and electricity/magnetism. Each engineering class after that was some variant of my fundamentals with deep dives into specific subjects. In order to succeed in these classes, I needed to have a strong foundation.
Precalculus

Precalculus

During high school, I took Algebra 2 twice and went up to pre-calculus. Started over in junior college, where I took college algebra (Alg2) up to calculus 3. During this time, I feel that I have built a solid foundation, which I still hold to this day. At university, I took linear algebra/ differential eq. twice, and continued on into engineering analysis.
