I have experience in ESL teaching and tutoring students ranging from elementary school age through senior adults. I currently hold adult classes twice a week in ESL and Work Target Language at the Malibu Labor Exchange Center to South American and Mexican laborers. My overall major involvement has been with ESL students of Japanese, Korean, Chinese and Vietnamese, South American and Mexican cultures. I have worked with classes of up to 25 students. My previous student reviews of my teachings were very favorable. I am trained and certified by Oxford Seminars for ESL/TESOL/TESL/TOEFL. I attended Oxford Seminars at UC Berkeley to update my certification in March 2010. My teaching methods are basic ESL formats, combined with current life situational examples and target language suited to individual students or groups. I believe it is important to emphasize that our learning will be comfortable, speaking basic phrases, learning to be confident in English word pronunciation and not be self-conscious when practicing. My goal is to have each student be relaxed and learn in a friendly atmosphere.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
