My name is Lee. Welcome to my Shameless Self-Promotion Machine.
I co-wrote a best-selling acting textbook (over 250,000 copies sold) that is required reading in literally hundreds of theatre programs. I’m also an award winning professional writer, director, and producer, so I bring a real-world perspective to my work as a teacher. I recently received my MFA in Creative Writing and Writing for the Performing Arts from the University of California Riverside. My major was screenwriting, with minors in playwriting and creative non-fiction,
I've been teaching acting for over 20 years at the professional, conservatory and university levels. I was profiled as one of the country’s top acting teachers, in Qualified Acting Coaches: NY (Smith & Kraus). I've taught at NYU/Tisch School of the Arts, NYU School of Continuing and Professional Studies (Associate Professor), The Atlantic Theater Company Acting School (Master Teacher, New York & Los Angeles) and The New World School of the Arts in Miami (Visiting Professor). I am currently Playwright-in-Residence at California State, Northridge in the Veterans in Theatre Project. I am also currently teaching filmmaking, and lecturing on story and screenplay at the Los Angeles Film School.
I have taught thousands of actors, many of whom have gone on to successful careers, included Simon Helberg (“The Big Bang Theory”), Skeet Ulrich (“Law & Order: LA”), Christopher Carley (Gran Torino), and Bree Sharp (hit recording artist, “David Duchovny”). I’ve also directed over 50 student productions and showcases.
I've also coached dozens of high school students for their college auditions, and my success rate is over 95%. (I coached my own daughter, who is one of 18 kids chosen out of over 600 who auditioned for the University of Michigan BFA Acting Program.)
So if you need help with acting, any form of creative writing, or academic writing, I'd love to help you succeed! My name is Lee. Welcome to my Shameless Self-Promotion Machine.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
