I love the English language and truly enjoy helping my students become more competent and comfortable in it. I am a very experienced teacher/tutor of English, Reading, and ESL; and I am very patient and never pressure my students. I think you'd enjoy working with me.

Criminal Justice

I have two certificates in Paralegal Studies (City College of SF and SF State University). I served for three years as an intern at the Mission Community Criminal Defense Project in SF, where I worked closely with attorneys defending clients charged with misdemeanors as well as felonies. As a legal advocate for the Homeless Advocacy Project of the SF Bar Association I often worked with clients facing criminal charges. I am familiar with the California Penal Code and with criminal law generally. I am also quite familiar with constitutional law. I am adept at reading the law and understanding and interpreting it. I won a coveted award for my work with clients at the Homeless Advocacy Project. I have come to have a special interest in criminal law.

I have been a teacher/tutor for over 40 years. During that time, I have worked with a great many young and elementary-age children. I have taught elementary school-age students as a tutor, teacher and instructional aide in the public and private sectors. I hold a masters in Child Development with a minor in Educational Psychology. Additionally, I hold a masters in Teaching. I am currently completing my PhD in Education. I have special skills and experience teaching/tutoring young children, grades K-6 [in addition to considerable experience with older students]. For many years I have worked - and currently work - in the after school programs of the San Francisco public schools. There I have supervised students, in the elementary school grades, in recreation and in academics. I have helped students complete their daily homework assignments and related academic work. Very often students come to me seeking help with questions or difficulties they are encountering in various academic subject areas ranging from Math to English to Science, as well as other subject areas. I enjoy doing this and am quite skilled and experienced in this kind of teaching.

Great Teacher

Eric is the greatest teacher which Wyzant recommended me for Alberto and I am really glad I meet him and I trust him working with my son. I will really recommend Eric to any students which they need help in English and Government best trick for success is patience and hard work intensive work. My son Alberto was an F student in English and also he did not have any knowledge in government and he start to work with Eric on the last week of January 2017 doing both subjects together. They work every day 2 to 3 hours some times 4 or 5 hours Monday true Sunday but hard work give good results my son Alberto is almost a B student in English and B student in Government. People need to know patience is the best key for success and hard work never quit. When Eric first meet my son he wasn't sure how it will work and if he could give him any support to make things better for him after few sessions and seen Alberto working hard with him he looked at me and he said yes he will make it to the end and he will graduate so I trust him and I am a really happy mother seen Alberto tomorrow graduating is a really good felling. My story is a happy people's need to know Eric M. is a really grate teacher a 100000000 STARS.

A motivating teacher

Eric has been a very motivating coach towards my son. Although my son only has had 3-4 lessons with Eric, have already seen the improvement on him. Eric has guided him to structure his essays at a better way. And more important how to think better as a writer and not just a high school student. Really appreciate ...

Not just a tutor, a mentor

My son enjoyed every minutes of the two hour session with Eric. He not only taught him writing skills, but also gave him confidence in writing.

Big mistake

It was a big mistake to ask for his help in a first place. He assured us that he is professional English tutor and can help us writing us such thing as personal statement for UC system. Moreover he told us that he has huge experience in that and it would be really easy. We trusted him, and we made a big mistake. Study sessions were super unproductive, and we were constantly receiving calls from him asking when is the next review session. He promised us that we can always email him asking questions, but instead of answering them he was asking for the next session (each session was 2 hours for $ 90) to answer them. By Fall we had the next picture: personal statement that was unacceptable, and tutor constantly saying that we need to meet again for the next review session. To sum up, these tutoring sessions were big waste of money, and we wasted a lot of time, which was really valuable to us. In the end we were left in very uncomfortable position in the fall, when UC application was due. We made the right decision that we refused from his services, and we do not recommend anyone else his services.
