Hello, my name is Anthony. I am an English M.A. graduate from Cal Poly Pomona, who enjoys nothing more than helping students understand concepts with which they were having difficulties. I believe, I offer a unique perspective that not many other English tutors possess; because I received my B.S. degree in Apparel Merchandising and Management, or Fashion, and studied Communications extensively, receiving an A.A. degree in Communication Studies, I am a creative, patient, well rounded, individual who is eager to help students learn.
I enjoy teaching, tutoring, so much that I completely changed my career path because I wanted to do it for the rest of my life. I had a promising future in the fashion industry, but when I started teaching English on the side, I knew that was the career for me. What I love about teaching English is that it helps my students better communicate their ideas. English is, literally, such a powerful subject in the sense that mastery of English can create countless opportunities for the one who possess it. Consequently, the opposite is also true where that lack of knowledge can be detrimental to one's opportunities. I want to be a Teacher of English to Speakers of Other Languages because the English language is so critical in this country, and people who are not able to speak it have trouble communicating. So, if you want to learn English I want to help you.
I graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with my Master's in English/TESOL where I had the privilege to learn from brilliant minds such as the President of CATESOL, California Association of Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages. In addition, I worked at Cal Poly's English Language Institute as a Teacher's Assistant, for three years, where I worked very closely with English teachers to help our international students, who come to us from all over the world, to learn English. Before working at the English Language Institute at Cal Poly Pomona, I worked at Mt. San Antonio College's ESL, English as a Subsequent Language, department.
