California State University Dominguez Hills (Master's)
I hold a B.A. in Sociology and Studio Art (Painting and Drawing) from UC Santa Barbara and a M.A. in Humanities (Art emphasis) from California State University Dominguez Hills. My experience tutoring includes one quarter teaching art to a fourth grade class as a UC ArtsBridge Scholar and one semester working as a Language Arts Tutor (CORE/ESL) for students in grades 2-4. This month I returned to working as as an Art Tutor for two artists with learning disabilities; I worked in this same capacity in 2000-2001.
I enjoy sharing my knowledge, helping people learn new things, and finding creative ways to make learning fun and colorful. I have worked with a wide variety of students and appreciate that everyone is unique. I strive to always be professional, positive, and focused. I am open to feedback and can customize sessions to be the most effective for each student.
I have extensive writing experience including published articles, web content development, and copy editing. I also work as an independent graphic designer with over 12 years experience in the field. Websites, social media, print ads, brochures, and business cards are some of the many projects I have worked on. I can provide instruction on digital photography and editing, selecting stock photography or illustrations, designing logos, printing and publishing, and more.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
