About Jack

I am a college graduate (B.S. political science from the University of Florida) and an active accounting student at Miracosta college. (3.75 GPA). I have also taken and achieved a certificate in several online classes; my most recent course was a finance class taught by Yale professor (and Nobel Prize winner) Robert Schiller. I am the son of a high school teacher (she taught over 25 years)who always stressed the value of education and learning. With my academic background and love of education, I can help you get the grade or test score you want. I can help you in a variety of subjects, including history, math, political science, economics, psychology. My rate is reasonable.

I have a fairly flexible schedule and can work around your other appointments. Do not hesitate to let me know if you have an emergency and have to cancel. I won't be offended or upset. You will soon find out I am a patient but persistent tutor. If you are struggling I won't drop you or give up, or raise your fee. We will work together as a team until you master the subject.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Economics

I received all A's in all my college economic classes. I have gotten online certificates from several economics classes at Coursera, one of which was taught by a Nobel Prize winner (Robert Shiller). My former economics teacher, Heather Micelli (Miracosta College), is willing to give me a referral at the student's request.

Financial Accounting

I have received an A in both ACCT 101 and ACCT 201 At MiraCosta College.

Government & Politics

I have a degree in political science from the University of Florida.

Managerial Accounting

I have received an A in both ACCT 101 and ACCT 201 At MiraCosta College.

Political Science

I have a bachelor's degree from the University of Florida in this subject.

Public Speaking

I have been giving presentations for a group called NAMI for over 5 years now, probably have done 250 speeches by now. The program is called In Our Own Voice (IOOV). To explain more precisely: What happens is I go to a venue such as a crisis/rehab center and discuss my struggles with mental illness in about a 45 minute talk. The audience members are encouraged, but not required, to ask questions or share their own experiences with the rest of the audience.

Tax Preparation

I worked at H&R Block doing tax preparation for several years-- 2006-2009. I am now self-employed. I have taken and passed the federal exam every year from Tax College, a CTEC licensed provider.

Tennis

I began playing competitive tennis 30 years ago (11 years old)-reaching as high as #20 in the State of Florida. I have given tennis lessons and continued to play at a competitive level over the last two decades.
