Hello. My name is Michelle and I have been teaching at the elementary level for 15 years. Currently, I am a Reading Specialist for PUSD. I have a Masters in Curriculum and Teaching which allows me to be very educated in meeting the learning needs of all learners. I have worked with many English language learners, children with ADD/ADHD, and students with many different learning styles. I love children and am very passionate about teaching. I have a lot of patience, am able to read children fairly quickly, am very successful at teaching reading and writing, and want children to have fun while learning. Although my area of expertise is in kindergarten through fourth grade, I have also worked with older children on occasion. I would love to work with your child and have fun while learning! Hello. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have 15 years of experience at the K-4 level where I have worked with students/parents on the importance of developing/implementing good study skills. This includes encouraging students/parents to set aside a specific homework/study time each day, encourage the importance of reading every day, and making the home to school connection with families. I worked with students on taking responsibility and the importance of accountability.
