Talk to me about the rate.
Jeffrey tutored me last week in economics and he was punctual, dressed professionally and accommodated his schedule to be able to tutor me at a time convenient for me. He patiently answered my questions and approaching the concepts from a different angle in order to help me better understand the topics.
Jeffrey was very patient with my special needs son. He found ways to make the tutoring session fun and suggested on-line games and apps for us to use.
Jeff was very helpful. I needed help right away and he was able to accommodate me. He was on time as well. I would use Jeff again.
Jeffrey is a great tutor. Arrived at our home, got down to business, and had my son interacting with him right from the start. I heard some laughing, and by the end of the session my son was all smiles. We have a new game plan and feel Jeffrey's guidance is money well spent.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
When I was younger I was diagnosed with ADHD, other disorders and finally Aspergers when I was 8. While I no longer believe that these diagnoses completely fit me I have gone through a range of training to overcome my disability. I was in sensory integration, Special Ed classes, social training, and a range of other treatments.
When I was in first grade, I listened to my counselor tell my mom that, "there was no reason to expect that one day he would not be able to read." Needless to say, I exceeded all expectations. I take this experience into my tutoring, realizing that all students are so much more than their labels. Each person is an individual with the ability to learn. My job and my joy is to help find the best possible way for each person to learn.
I assisted students with disabilities throughout my own training as a child. Professionally, I have spent over 3 years working on alternate media for students with disabilities at California Polytechnic University in Pomona. I am becoming a special education teacher. I have tutored many students with special needs.
Every person has the ability to succeed and the right to the accommodations to do so.
I worked as an assistant coach for K-6th grade for over 8 years. I am great with kids. I have tutored in math and reading.
I worked as an assistant for student with disabilities at Allen Avenue Elementary. I helped students improve their reading speeds and comprehension through timed reading exercises.
I find that enthusiasm, patience, incentives, and simplifying ideas goes a long way in helping children learn.
Figuring out if students are auditory, visual, or tactile learners is a great way to increase the amount they can learn.
I am currently working for a tutoring agency which works with K-12th graders. I am certified to tutor K-10th grade math and K-12th grade English.
I have worked in the Disabilities Resource Center at Cal Poly Pomona for over 3 years. I have helped students with sever visual impairments, dyslexia, Aspergers, high functioning autism, sever anxiety, bipolar disorder, and depression. I have worked with students with other disabilities but due to privacy laws I do not know every type of disability I have worked with.
I work to help students on an individual level and do not rely only on disability labels to help meet individual needs.
I have helped teach one-on-one students in special needs classes. My knowledge is mainly focused on learning disabilities such as ADHD and Aspergers. I have a thorough understanding of computer tools used to help students with disabilities such as Kurzweil, Adobe Reader, Dragon Naturally Speaking, Dolphin Easy Reader, and tactile diagrams. I have knowledge of the way sensory integration, special-ed classes and social skills training can help those with special needs.
I have helped teach a severely visually impaired individual the entire process of editing a book in Kurzweil.
I was diagnosed with learning disabilities as a child and have firsthand experience with the various resources available for students today.
I have gone through the IEP process. I have worked with the department of rehabilitation. I can help you or your child go through the same process.
I believe all students are so much more than their labels. Each person is an individual with the ability to learn. Every person has the right and the ability to succeed. I do my best to make sure everyone I work with has the knowledge and skills necessarily for success.
