About Robin

My approach to tutoring is informed by my past academic struggles. When I was a freshman at Princeton, I quickly realized that my high school, located in an economically depressed area in south Texas, had not adequately prepared me for the diverse range of college coursework. Having had to overcome that, I know the frustration and self-defeating strategies--like procrastination--that students often develop and I am especially sensitive to supporting my students. Sometimes that means being firm, but more often it means celebrating the small successes. I graduated from Princeton with flying colors and graduation day was the proudest moment in my life. I want all of my students to have that moment, which is why I hold myself to the highest standards as a tutor, and why I love to teach. In my lessons, I strive to be creative about different ways to present the material. The added benefit is that neither of us gets bored!

I specialize in preparing students for the SAT, PSAT, and ACT. On occasion, I work with two other companies doing just that. I also tutor up to college-level English and grammar, high school science and math, as well as study skills.

I look forward to hearing from you and helping you reach your goals!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

SAT Math

3 years of professional experience. Excellent track record of raising scores by 100s of points, and a personal database of over 20 previously administered SAT tests.

SAT Writing

I have one year of SAT/ACT prep experience with elite private companies.

Study Skills

Having completed a 4 year degree at a challenging Ivy League University, study skills and organization were an absolute must. I have one year of experience with tutoring study skills.
