Hello! My name is Ginevra, and I am a heart-based and value-driven Guidance Counselor and Holistic Coach. My lifelong purpose is to help young adults and college students succeed in their personal, academic, and professional life. I do so by combining my expertise in time management, SMART Goals setting, test prep, anti-procrastination techniques, public speaking, integrative life coaching, and stress-reduction practices such as yoga and meditation.

I have 7+ years of experience in tutoring and coaching college students and young adults. I focus especially on the International college student population and special needs population such as students with ADHD, Autism, and learning disabilities. My tutoring style is caring but strict, and because everyone learns differently, I adjust my style to the needs of each individual student.

I am so passionate about tutoring because it allows me to develop a trusted, 1-1 relationship with my students where I can create a safe space for them to shine their talent, go for what they want, achieve striving results and feeling more confident in life or at school!

I have taught Public Speaking and Storytelling for more than 5 years now. I have trained with Arina Isaacson and within the Toastmasters work-frame. I have coached MBA Business Students at the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business, within the INSPIRE organization (a network for International College students and spouses in the USA) and at UC Los Angeles. Moreover, I have tutored public speaking and storytelling as a private coach both in person and online for the last 4 years.

My approach to Public Speaking is very holistic and comprehensive. I address the person from a variety of perspectives, from mental roadblocks (the capacity of constructing and holding a coherent story together) to the emotional side (above all, the fear of public speaking!) concluding with somatic work which includes breath work by using the diaphragm, and stress-reduction techniques such as meditation.

College Counseling

I hold a Master's Degree in Guidance and College Counseling with a specialization in Career Counseling, and I have more than 5 years of experience in this field. While working within the Student Affairs Dean's Office at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, I have served more than 200 students in the capacity of Case Manager and College Counselor. I offer targeted guidance during student's college years, guiding students in their learning path. The college years can be incredibly challenging and they are a huge life transition. Requirements change drastically and often students are left without guidance in how to deal with what is expected of them. I help students finding their own pace of study and be successful in school by implementing time-management techniques, teaching them how to avoid procrastination, how to memorize properly for an incoming test and how to set realistic and achievable goals (SMART goal setting). Moreover, my tutoring is informed by stress-reduction care which includes breathing exercises and guided meditations to help students feel grounded and secure in themselves.

Special Needs

ADHD

ADHD

While working as an Academic Coach at the KATZ Family Academic Center at Loyola Marymount University, I was trained in working with special needs college students, especially students with ADHA and learning/reading disabilities. I have coached 30+ special needs students in subjects such as focusing, and memorization techniques. ADHD students have a peculiar way of learning and focusing which can be transformed into a unique gift and talent if properly channeled. I have found meditation to be particularly helpful in supporting ADHD students focus on one subject at a time, and set aside storming and racing thoughts for a moment.

Sports/Recreation

Yoga

Yoga

Yoga for me is the passion that unites all of my other talents. It is the base for a holistic approach to well-being and is an incredible practice to support people in their path towards success and self-fulfillment, along with physical strength and a strong grounded presence. I hold a 200 hours Yoga Teacher Training recognized by Yoga Alliance. I am trained in Hatha and Restorative Yoga and I have a therapeutic approach. My main goal is to help people being connected to their body, recognize the way it needs to move in order to heal itself. I focus a lot on pranayama (breathing techniques) which is an evidence-based practice to soothe the nervous system and go into a parasympathetic state, which is the state of relaxation and focus. I also use meditation, metaphors and guided visualizations to help my yoga students be more in touch with their spiritual side if this is something they are willing to explore.
