My love for the guitar began 36 years ago, at the age of 9. I started off with classical, and soon got into rock, and heavy metal. I formed my first serious band at the age of 20. We played all over southern California, especially Hollywood. I've shared the stage with Stone Temple Pilots, 311, Kyuss, Incubus, and many more. I've worked with some of rock's best producers, like Garth Richardson who produced Rage Against the Machine's first album. I've recorded in some of LA's best studios, and I have toured internationally.
Making music is a journey and a process, both of which are their own rewards. When you look at music in this way, it takes away the negative mental blocks that impede your success as a musician. I began teaching at the age of 16, because I wanted to emulate one of my childhood idols. After teaching several of my classmates how to play, I realized that I have a knack for passing this information on. One of the keys to being a successful teacher is learning how to cater to different personalities. Sometimes you need to be able to explain a concept in several different ways to make sure that the student can internalize the information. One of my younger students was able to skip music fundamentals and music theory 1 in school, and he was the only underclassman to make it into his high school jazz band. Seeing his first performance was a very proud moment for me. One of the most important things that I will teach you is how to enjoy the process. Once you gain that perspective, music will no longer be a huge mountain looming over you, it will simply be a wonderful journey full of exciting possibilities. I look forward to guiding you through the hills and valleys.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
