Bio

Although I graduated summa cum laude (undergraduate), and magna cum laude (graduate), I know that learning to succeed in school can be a challenge. My interest and specialization is working with elementary age children, helping then to learn how to study (in all subjects), and develop self-esteem through their efforts.

I truly enjoy working with young children and getting to know their families. For the past four years I've been teaching four and five year olds in preschool. I am married...

I truly enjoy working with young children and getting to know their families. For the past four years I've been teaching four and five year olds in preschool. I am married and have two children, the youngest is currently a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I am flexible in terms of scheduling and work on the westside of Los Angeles and Santa Monica.

Drawing

I have an undergraduate degree from Elmira College in Art Ed., and a graduated degree in sculpture from the State University of New York at Albany. For the past 4 years, I have been teaching at a Reggio-inspired preschool. My main focus there was teaching drawing on-site (through walks in the neighborhood), and in the studio. Teaching children to examine something, to look closely at the structure of how something is made (what is the shape? Do they overlap? That one is further away, how does it look different from the one closer to you?) allows them to "break down" the subject of what they're drawing and enables and empowers them to understand and render "the whole".
