I have always loved teaching languages, because I love learning them and using them. I have tutored for French at all levels and Spanish, Italian and Hebrew for all beginning and intermediate students. My first language is English, so I know how to give explanations for things that will make sense to an English speaker. I have also tutored people in English grammar and vocabulary and ESL. Several times, I have prepared high school students for their ACT and SAT exams, and have worked with them on their written statements for college applications.
I enjoy tutoring and take my work seriously. I stay for the entire hour and am patient with questions. Although I have a 24-hour cancellation policy, I am available to make up lessons. I stay in contact with students and parents after lessons to give constructive feedback on how the student is doing. And I appreciate hearing constructive feedback about my lessons so that I can better tailor them to a student's needs.
I live in the Venice area and see students throughout West LA, Culver City and sometimes to mid-Wilshire and Hollywood. Inspiring and dependable and prepared and thoughtful and very clear in his pronunciation of Italian. Frank made it fun to learn and he tailored our lessons to our goals. We looked forward to our time together.
Frank tutored my daughter in Spanish. He brings a great understanding of how middle school languages are taught, and was able to connect with her very well. She had a great experience working with him.
Frank is a very professional yet accessible French tutor. He came and helped my 15-year-old study for his 9th grade French exam. Frank was patient and engaging. He connects well with teens. He also has thorough knowledge of his subject, and went the extra mile to contact my son's teacher to learn more about the final exam! Wow!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Masters degree in French literature from UCLA.

I was trained to read and write Hebrew as a child, during religious studies. Later, I travelled to Israel where I lived for a year, taking classes to perfect my use of Modern Hebrew. I can now read newspapers and stories as well as write and converse in Modern Hebrew. I have also tutored one child and one adult who were learning Hebrew.
I have a master's degree which required a lot of reading, note taking and essay writing. I have tutored high school students preparing for the SAT, and I helped them to stay organized and to write clear essays. And I am good at mapping out a daily schedule for people to keep them on track with the work they need to get done.
