I believe that everything starts with a story and you can learn how to make a story jump off the page. You need to know the rules before you can break them, so while I emphasize content, I also make sure your sentences follow the rules of grammar and composition. My undergraduate degree, in Theater Arts, is from UCLA. I have a Masters Degree in English Literature with a specialization in Creative Writing from New York University and my teaching experience includes eight years teaching Story Analysis and Development in the Entertainment Studies program at UCLA Extension. The class emphasized both reading and writing skills and we had fun doing the work.
I've spent my career reading and writing for a living, and have taught others many of the tricks I use to make their work both meaningful and entertaining. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
