I have always enjoyed teaching and learning. I am a retired Assistant Principal and a certificated teacher for grades K through 6. I have been successfully tutoring students for over 3 years now as well as acting in the capacity of an Educational Advocate for students with special needs. As a learner I continue to take courses of interest to me and am currently enrolled in an online class from Harvard University centered on Justice, Morality, and Political Philosophy which addresses many of society's current issues. My style of tutoring is informal and I can work with either the lessons a student must prepare for school or bring stylized lesson plans on specific subjects. I believe learning should be interesting and fun, and create a desire in the student to succeed.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I took the CBEST in order to obtain my BA in Liberal Arts and qualify for entering the Credential Program. Passed the test on the first try and received high scores. CBEST, historically, has been subject matter up to 6th grade level. I taught upper Elementary School. The best way to prepare is to use a study guide together with test strategies.
I have a BA in Liberal studies and current Teaching Credential from State of California for grades K through 7. Also an MA in Education. I taught elementary school in grades, 1,3,4,5, and became Title I Coordinator, and then an Asst. Principal for 8 yrs.
