I have been a Resource Specialist at a high school for 28 years. I work with students who have learning challenges, teaching all subjects, teaching study skills and teaching algebra and CHSEE math classes. I use a variety of strategies to help students understand concepts. I have experience in diagnosing areas of weakness and can break down concepts so that students can understand all the parts of the whole.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have worked with learning disabled students with ADD and ADHD for 35 years. I am a resource specialist with an LH credential, also have a resource certificate, a multiple subject credential, and a certificate to teach asperger students.
I have been chair person of my Special Ed department, I have been coordinator of Title 1 for English and math after school tutoring programs. These are my qualifications.
I have completed a required course on working with autistic children.
I now have a certificate for working with autistic/asperger children.
That was part of my multiple subject and specialist credential.
I also have an English learner credential- CLAD.
I have a mild handicapped learners credential and I am qualified to teach gen ed. students k-9.
I have taken classes to teach reading and have taught students reading through DISTAR, Corrective Reading, phonics, story boards and the whole writing method. I use kinesthetics to help students remember letters and their directionality as well as color-coding and tactile activities.
These are reasons I am qualified to work with Dyslexic students.
I have a multiple subject credential which means I can teach grades K-12. I have taught all grades 1st-6th, 7th-8th and 9th through 12th.
I have a current LH credential, which means I am approved to teach students with mild learning handicaps.
I have been teaching algebra to high school students with learning challenges for the past 15 years.
I also have taught a CAHSEE English class to students to help them prepare for the requisite exam.
I have autism certification after taking and passing an on-line course for this certification.
I have been teaching study skills at the high school level for the past 25 years. I work as a resource specialist helping students with all subjects. I have taught algebra and CHSEE math prep classes for the last 5 years.
