About Rosa

Hello! I am a kind, patient Harvard grad with ten years of tutoring experience. As a first generation college student, I grew up in a family in which education was the number one priority. I understand that each class assignment, test, and college essay is a step in a bigger journey of personal and academic growth, and I believe that support along the way is essential.

I am privileged to have attended Harvard, where I earned my Bachelor's degree in History and Literature. At Harvard, I tutored at the Writing Center for three years, worked as a Dorm Crew (student-run cleaning organization) captain, sang in the Radcliffe Choral Society and Mariachi Veritas, and studied abroad in Brazil. After college, I lived in Mozambique with the support of the Michael C. Rockefeller fellowship. I have traveled to and lived in 18 countries, working in the fields of human rights, film and television, and music. All of these experiences have contributed to my passion for supporting students' learning adventures inside and outside of the classroom.

I specialize in personal statement consulting, PSAT, SAT, and ACT. I also tutor academic subjects including English, Spanish, Portuguese, history, psychology, music theory, economics, and government. Students I've worked with have improved their grades and raised their test scores after as few as 2-3 tutoring sessions, and my personal statement clients have been admitted to top colleges and graduate schools including Oxford, Harvard, Columbia, MIT, Brown, Cornell, Johns Hopkins, Cooper Union, Williams, Brandeis, and all of the UC campuses.

Thanks for stopping by! I look forward to helping you in any way I can on your academic journey.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

College Counseling

I have eight years of experience as a college essay and personal statement consultant. With a B.A. from Harvard College in History and Literature, I have worked with hundreds of students to brainstorm, draft, and polish their statements for college and graduate programs, fellowships, and scholarships. I am passionate about working with each individual to identify the significant life experiences that have shaped him/her and expressing them in a refreshing and compelling statement. My clients have been admitted to competitive colleges and graduate programs including Oxford, Harvard, Columbia, MIT, Brown, Cornell, Johns Hopkins, NYU, Cooper Union, Williams, Brandeis, USC, all University of California campuses, and Howard medical school.
