About Jennifer

Teaching is a passion for me. I have taught 2nd grade, 5th grade, and 4th grade. I love that tutoring gives me the opportunity to use my skills to work with students individually to personally meet their needs.

I received my Master's degree in Education and Multi-Subject teaching credential from Pepperdine University. I graduated cum laude with a degree in Political Science after my undergraduate study at Loyola Marymount University. I am passionate about reading and writing, and knowledgeable on those subjects at all grade levels. Having taught in a classroom, I know what teachers are looking for and expect, and can help students to meet, and exceed, those goals.

I know that students have varied ways of understanding, and there isn't a one-size-fits-all approach to ensure achievement. I enjoy finding exactly what works for each one of my students to help them succeed. I expect hard work, but I believe learning should be fun!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I studied ADD/ADHD behavior as part of my Master's Degree with Pepperdine University, and have worked with students with these needs as an elementary school teacher.

Aspergers

I took a class on students with Asperger's and Autism at Pepperdine University when I received my Master's Degree. I have had students on the autistic spectrum in my classroom. I have participated in SSTs and IEPs through the school to work with these students most effectively.
