Are you frustrated with the SAT and KNOW you could score higher if you just had some help to figure out how to do it? I know you could, too. I love helping kids reach their potential and beat this test. Over the past 14 years, first in NYC and now in LA, I've helped hundreds of kids improve their scores, sometimes far more than they or their parents imagined possible. I can quickly evaluate your strengths and weaknesses and show you how you can score several levels higher than where you are now.
You'll find a lot of tutors who understand the SAT, and many who can even explain it to you. However, if you're having trouble learning and applying it, I have the rare ability to see what's getting in your way and help you get past it so that you can get the score you deserve. In fact, I believe that everyone can raise his or her score 100 - 150 points with the math, grammar, and vocabulary that you ALREADY have, and at least another 100 - 150 points if you have the time to learn a little bit more.
I work with students of all levels. I'll help you with your confidence and focus because it's the key to doing your best at every level. I'm warm, patient, encouraging, and supportive; I'll also call you on your coasting if you need it. I was a standup comic for a long time, so I'll help you learn all of this with a sense of humor that makes this process as fun and stress free as possible.
What else might you want to know about me? I graduated from Brown with a History degree, I worked as a software developer for companies like Prudential Securities and Morgan Stanley, and I have a blog with very high Google rankings for "SAT improvement" and "SAT critical reading tips".

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Lots of people can teach the math that's covered on the SAT, but there's a lot more that goes into getting the best SAT math score you can possibly get than simply knowing the material. I can quickly figure out what's getting in your way and help you get the math score that you deserve, even if you don't like math or have a little bit of math phobia. And if you're great at math in school, I'll show you how the test is designed to keep really smart people from getting a perfect or near perfect score, and a couple of simple tricks that will help you to beat them at their own game.
A lot of people will tell you that it's not possible to significantly raise your Critical Reading score. That's simply not true.
I've been tutoring kids for the SAT for 13 years and I've helped a lot of kids see a huge increase in their CR score. Once you know how the CR section really works, it can become the easiest section to improve.
In fact, I've helped kids all over the world reach their goals in this area using only the resources I provide on my blog, which ranks 2nd in a Google search for SAT Critical Reading Tips, so imagine what I can do for you if we work together personally, one on one.
The College Board knows that people trust their ear way too much, so they write questions which you're sure to get wrong if you do. The key to the multiple choice questions for the SAT Writing section is to learn the small handful of things you have to check by rule so that you can trust your ear on everything else. That's how you beat them at their own game.
