As a tutor, I can quickly assess you or your child's individual academic progress and customize a learning program. Leading from their strengths and interests, I'll build skills step by step, breaking up lessons with educational games and relevant timed challenges.
I have a degree in Elementary Education and have taught every grade (K-8) either as a classroom teacher or substitute in LAUSD, Wisconsin and Texas. I have taught both in public and in private schools. I have two daughters - one attends public middle school and the other a private high school.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a strong background in reading instruction and using the creative arts to promote learning. This methodology is often a terrific way to engage students with focus problems. My own daughter has ADHD and I've tutored her throughout school. We utilize stim breaks and a system of rewards that would work well for most students with similar issues. As an LAUSD sub, I have often worked with ADD/ADHD children both in the resource classroom and in regular classrooms.
I passed the CBEST and CSET tests. I am certified with a 30 day Substitute Credential for LAUSD and licensed in Wisconsin for Elementary and Secondary Education.
My MFA is in theatre directing. I can direct you or your child to be a prepared and confident speaker. I taught undergraduate Acting and Voice at the University of Texas. As a former film producer, I was required to make presentations, give awards and run seminars.
I taught a year long course in study skills at a private school in Dallas, Texas.
I am a certified teacher K-8 multisubject in Wisconsin and LAUSD substitute teacher K-6. I passed the CSET and CBEST multisubject tests.
