About Mattias

I have been tutoring for nearly 20 years and am pursuing a PhD in Education because I am passionate about enabling children and young adults to gain the confidence and learning skills necessary to become independent learners and successful students. I work with students of all ages in customized 1-on-1 tutoring sessions focused on developmental transformation and empowerment through the medium of academic achievement. I am particularly experienced with children grades K-12, where we work to develop and strengthen the learning, executive function, and organizational skills necessary for success in high school and beyond. When working with students, I provide consistent feedback to parents and am available by phone for extra help. I am on the Board of Directors of a school for children with Autism, Site Director at UCSF and was the Executive Director of an after-school program for 1000 underserved children at 5 schools in Brooklyn, NY. I currently work in Tiburon/Belvedere, Mill Valley, Sausalito, Corte Madera, San Anselmo and have relationships with teachers and administrators at many schools in these areas. I have devoted my life to education and learning and I look forward to working with you and/or your children.

A testimonial about my work:

“Since Sara started working with you not only has she started to develop a passion for reading but also I am sensing a new spark in her around learning in general. She was talking this morning about important people in her life and I was interested that she mentioned you. I can't tell you how happy I am that you are working together and that she is thriving with your influence.” – James T

My current students' parents are always happy to speak with new potential students' parents!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
