Hello Fellow Student,

I am available to tutor a wide variety of subjects, but am especially good in Math, Languages and Dance. I am now a CPA (Certified Public Accountant). I have worked as a Tutor with several private tutoring companies, working with students in school subjects and standardized tests. I have taken the GMAT and LSAT as well.
I speak Spanish (the best, very fluent for years since I first learned in high school 15 years ago), German (minor in college), and Italian, and have traveled all over Europe. I graduated college with honors. I obtained my B.S. in Business Administration - Double Major in International Business and Finance, Cum Laude, in 2003, and obtained my Master's degree MBA in Business in 2006 with 3.7 GPA. I dance all styles of dance including ballroom, salsa, swing, and tango. I excel in math and business subjects like accounting, finance, economics, business law, computer science.

I have tutored age groups from kindergarten through late high school and early college age, and a wide variety of subjects. My approach to tutoring is a hands-on approach, where the student interacts a lot with the tutor. I personally learn best visually and by doing, and I like to make sure my students learn in a similar way. I like to give them guidelines and pointers, but make sure they are figuring problems out on their own. I like to supervise them as they attempt it themselves, and let them practice as I guide them and answer questions as they come up. I like to have a relaxed, friendly, casual atmosphere when tutoring, and I like to motivate students and provide lots of positive encouragement when they are doing well. I am located in Santa Clarita Valley/Valencia, CA.

I look forward to working with you!

Thanks,

Jessica

Ballroom Dancing,

Ballroom Dancing

I have taken dance lessons since age 3 for tap, jazz and ballet and have always had a knack for picking up dance steps quickly. At age 19 in 1999 I took my first ballroom dance class (they taught fox trot, waltz, tango, swing, salsa, merengue, Viennese waltz, polka, etc.) at California State University Northridge and received a grade of A. I repeated the course a few times after each semester just for fun and credit. I then co-founded and was later President of a dance club, which offered swing dance, salsa, and tango dance lessons to students and outside members. I have taken ballroom dance lessons at various clubs and studios in LA since then and usually the instructors ask me to help assist. I used to go out dancing 4 - 5 times a week in LA from 1999 through 2009 for 10 years, and still go out often. I have given many private dance lessons to friends for weddings and for private learning purposes.
Drawing,

Drawing

I have been able to draw and been an artist since I was a kid. I took an art class in elementary school and the teacher told me I have major drawing talent. As a child, I would enter drawing contests for The Signal newspaper and win Magic Mountain tickets for winning all the drawing/art contests. I took Art classes at CSUN during my freshman and sophomore years there and did very well. I have kept my drawing portfolio from those art classes and can submit photos of my drawings as needed. I also keep a sketch book. I learned a lot of drawing techniques from my courses, and like to apply those when tutoring. I also took a Drafting course in high school. I like to show the overall shapes and partitioned/proportioned squares with drawing. When drawing people I like to start with the eyes first and the overall pencil body shape outline. I like to teach shading cross-hatching techniques as well.
Photography,

Photography

I have been a professional photographer for about 7 years since 2007/2008 when I transitioned from modeling to photography. I had taken a photo darkroom class in 8th grade with pinhole cameras and fixer, but I got really experienced with digital photography as I trained with really experienced red carpet and fashion photographers I had met as a model. My first pro digital camera I got was the Canon Rebel xti/2ti. I now own and use a Canon 7D which also has video capability. I have all the equipment needed for a full indoor lighting studio for headshots and fashion full body shots including colored cloth and paper backdrops, 3 Alienbees strobe lights, stands, umbrellas, large soft box, tripod, and Canon 580-EX2 fill flash, about 5 different lenses, wardrobe, and props. My specialty is retro 40/50s and commercial fashion photography, but I have also shot family portraits, weddings, events, bands, nature, and commercial photos. I am very experienced with Photoshop and can teach editing techniques as well as how to use Canon cameras and artistic techniques.
Salsa Dancing,

Salsa Dancing

I have been a dancer since age 3 for tap, jazz, and ballet so I grew up memorizing complicated dance moves on the spot. I took my first official ballroom/salsa dance class at CSUN in 2000 when I was 20 where I learned the official basic salsa dance steps and techniques along with some additional moves. I then co-founded the CSUN Ballroom Dance Club and CSUN Lindy Hoppers Swing Dance Club with people I had met in that ballroom dance class at CSUN, and I helped teach salsa dance classes to club members. We would go out dancing 3 to 4 nights a week as a group at salsa, swing, and tango dance clubs in LA and take more lessons before the dances. I have salsa dance experience from 2000 to 2014 so about 14-15 years of experience. I also like to salsa dance on Sundays in Santa Monica on 3rd Street Promenade, and have been salsa dancing at clubs like Mama Juanas in Universal City, Conga Room, Rumba Room, La Floridita, etc. I love dancing and love to have fun music and a fun atmosphere when teaching. I like to break down all the steps and give feedback on technique as well.

Very knowledgeable accountant!

Jessica is a wonderful tutor. She is extremely patient and thoroughly explains each topic that is being reviewed. I feel like I learned a lot more from her in an hour than I do from my professors. She’s a miracle worker.

knowledgeable and patient

We went over reverse acquisitions and consolidated lecture notes and quiz. She helped submit my homework and she is very patient and knowledgeable. She knows allot about accounting she used a hands on approach and had me do examples. I felt very confident after the session and I highly recommend her to other students.

Jessica J is a great tutor in lingustics. She helped me with the tree structures and figuring out weather, coronal, and dorsal. Also, she is a great English tutor for reading and study guidance.

Great Tutor

Jessica has a sharp ear for German. She is able to help you differentiate the accents. I'm located in Orlando, Florida, therefore my lessons are done through Skype. IF you have trouble remembering words, don't worry because Jessica is a patient tutor.
