I am a credentialed math and statistics teacher, with a Masters degree in Math Education and a Bachelors degree in Statistics. I have 13 years combined experience teaching students in grades 6-12, as well as adults in college settings. I also homeschool my five children, from their infancy through highschool. So I am experienced in teaching math across all ages. I have been tutoring with Wyzant for four years.

Tutoring is rewarding because it allows me to use my teaching talents and skills in a one-on-one relationship to help my students achieve their goals. I am blessed when my students can move past their struggles and find success in their math studies.

Over the years, I have learned to use a variety of methods to help my students. I use manipulatives with younger students to help them develop understanding of foundational concepts. This has become even more important with the methodology used in the California Common Core Curriculum. I also use methods to help identify right-brain learners and then assist them with alternative teaching methods. With all students, I use pictures and analogies to help students attach math concepts to knowledge and understanding they already possess. This develops brain connections that increase retention and higher level thought processes.

Do you want to finally achieve success in mathematics and statistics? Let's get moving on that path.

Geometry

Geometry is my favorite math subject, and I enjoy helping students navigate through geometric diagrams, solving for the unknown measure. I use a hands-on technique called "Patty Paper Geometry" to enable the students to explore and more deeply understand geometric relationships, so that what is stated in a theorem becomes real and usable in proofs. I possess a Master's degree in Math Education and well-versed in the expectations of the California Common Core Standards.

Very flexible, and knowledgeable

My son needed some help preparing for his Algebra 2 final. I was looking for a math tutor on very short notice and Lee was very helpful, meeting my son on short notice. My son has worked with many tutors and teachers over the years, I'd say he is an expert. Lol. His review.. Lee was very helpful and was able to explain where I was making errors in a simple way that I understood. She's very intelligent, and I'd like to work with her more in the future ...

Able to access Son accurately

Lee has only tutored my son twice but he is actually listening to her instructions (amazing:) and trying to do better in his classes. She was able to access the way he learns after her first visit. We have a long way to go but I am very excited about Lee. She is the best I have seen in a long time and that's saying a lot because I have explored many avenues for my son.

Easy going and took her time

If I didn't understand something should would spend as much time as needed to teach me the part I was stuck on. Never in a rush and was easy to talk to from the beginning.

Excellent teacher!! Very patient!

Lee helped me solidify concepts that I was having problems with in statistics. She is systematic and great at what she does! I have another lesson scheduled with her next week!

Look no further!

Lee is by far one of the most patient and helpful tutors I have had (and I have had a lot of tutors). She takes the time to understand your weak points and helps you build a foundation from the ground up. She explains things in an understandable way and won't move on until you understand the concept as a whole. I feel much more confident going into my first midterm, and I know you will too! Thank you Lee :)

Excellent

My daughter loved the session with Lee and thought Lee did an excellent job in explaining all of the formulas she was having problems with. Thank you so much!!!

Great Teacher - Patient and Knowledgeable

I was struggling with aspects of Statistics and Lee showed me how to calculate problems in a way that I now know what to do independently. She used visual aids that were very helpful.
