Hawaii Pacific University (Pre-Medical Studies)
I have over 15 years of tutoring experience working with a wide range of students from pre-K to college. I graduated cum laude from Hawaii Pacific University with a Pre-Medical Studies Bachelor of Science degree. Obtaining this degree required a strong background in science, math, reading, and writing.
I LOVE teaching and sharing my knowledge. I have experience working with children with ADHD and other learning disabilities. I am open minded to the individual needs of each student, and I have a flexible schedule.
My efforts with my students don't end after each hourly tutoring session. I dedicate my own personal time to researching new learning techniques and supplemental materials for my students. I look forward to the many opportunities ahead. I have over 15 years of tutoring experience working with a wide range of students from pre-K to college. She helped a lot with my daughter. I can see clearly that she is gaining confidence in math and geometry just from one session. Well worth it.
She took the time to go over each problem, and was following the 'see one, do one, teach one...' method. She did not do the work for her, but rather let her make the mistakes and let her correct them on her own.
My child enjoys being tutored by Christine. She is very patient and knowledgeable in math. She is a big help for me and my child. I am glad we found someone reliable.
Patient, knowledgeable and flexible. Good in describing math problems easy to understand concept and teaches how to math equations in order.
Christine is an amazing tutor. Both my daughter and son have been tutored by Christine in Math and their understanding of the material after tutoring has given them the renewed confidence and motivation that they need to improve their grades.
Our daughter has learned something she didn't know about some of the Algebra topics she took in school - thanks to Christine. Very friendly lady. My daughter is starting to understand chemistry as well.
Christine is helping my 6 year older to catch up on reading. She did great job with him and he is getting better. She does well landing for lessons.
Christine was awesome with helping my son better understand microcellular biology, ecology, & several other forms of biology to prepare him for his CLEP exam.
My daughter has been having Christine come to tutor her in Biology, Geometry, and English once a week since the beginning of the school year. My daughter feels that she learns so much from their time together. Christine is very patient and is excellent at explaining things. She is also an excellent communicator with us. I highly recommend her services!
After my daughter's first tutoring session with Christine, she walked up to me with a smile on her face and stated, "She's really good!" This response is amazing coming from a teenager girl with ADD/ADHD who has always struggled in school. It was so refreshing to see a smile on my daughter's face instead of frustration. Christine was wonderful. She explained every math problem with her and confirmed she completed them. She brought enthusiasm back into my daughter. We have attempted and worked with several other tutors but none as amazing as Christine. Thank you, Christine!!
Christine was definitely a great fit for my daughter and I'm glad I found her. She has great communication skills and is super flexible, willing to work/adjust schedule if need be without any hesitation. With me and my husband as working parents, we are very appreciative of that. So far so good, and my daughter has expressed that she was very thorough and patient with her when tutoring. I'm glad to know that she has experience with ADD/ADHD kids.
Christine has helped my daughter's confidence with math. Now my daughter feels good about math and is finishing her assignments in class.
Christine has been working with my nine year old daughter on her math now for about two months. They have a weekly session which my daughter has grown to look forward to. The tears used to start when I said "time for math" but now she doesn't mind it and even kinda likes it. Like most grown ups I can do 3rd and 4th grade math but somehow daughter is more open to it and follows better when she is working with someone other than me. Christine has a nice, positive dynamic with my daughter. Very happy with her services and plan to continue.
I did not know where to start with my son, but luckily Christine knew exactly what my son needed and sat down with him immediately and ascertained which direction she needed to take him in. He has been consistently productive with her and I am feeling optimistic again, which is something that I have not felt in quite awhile. I like how straightforward she is and attentive with him and I have overheard her enthusiastically praise him for his productivity. I knew the first time she tutored him, that she has both the patience and the knowledge to cover the many subjects that he needs help with. Christine also takes time to brief me before she leaves and I am confident that our money is well spent with her as his tutor. I will continue to use her to bring him up to speed and as long as she is willing to work with him, I will be hiring her two hours at a time!
Christine has been such a great tutor and mentor for my son Jake. She has been with us off and on for at least two years now and my son and I both have grown to respect her professionally and appreciate her personally. She is an amazing tutor who from the first session has helped my son’s Math grade go up by one full grade and he continues to excel with her exceptional patience and knowledge. She is well versed in many subjects and as a parent I am very confident in her abilities to assist my high school aged son. We had not seen Christine in about a year and my son was really starting to struggle with Math, it was a no brainer to rehire Christine to jump in and assist. After the first session, after almost a year, my son was smiling, happy and very confident in his understanding of the Math he I currently doing. I would recommend Christine to anybody who needs a tutor and at any age.
Christine is a great tutor. My daughter has improved dramatically since we have been seeing her. She is always professional and very accommodating to our challenging schedule.
Christine made algebra much easier for me to understand, she was patient and encouraging. I feel I accomplished a lot & I am looking forward to our next session.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
