Bio

I recently graduated with my M.M. in collaborative piano at the University of Southern California studying with Dr. Alan Smith. I graduated with my B.M. in piano performance from Baylor University in May of 2019. I have also studied organ, harpsichord, voice, percussion, and jazz piano “on the side” over my musical career. I began playing piano at age 4.

I graduated with my B.M. in piano performance from Baylor University in May of 2019. I have also studied organ, harpsichord, voice, percussion, and jazz piano “on the side” over my musical career. I began playing piano at age 4.

I began tutoring colleagues in music theory in undergraduate, and immediately fell in love with sharing the musical tools that come naturally to me with other people. I hope I can help you as well!

I also enjoys actively contributing to communities--both locally and abroad--by regularly producing and directing benefit concerts. Some of the organizations that have benefitted from the generous audience donations at these concerts have been a clean water project in the Shyogwe region of Rwanda, Respite Care Inc. (support for persons with disabilities), and The Matthews House (a homelessness prevention project).

My journey as an artist has always been an active one. While in Colorado, I was a graduate assistant for Centennial Children’s Chorus and the accompanist for many local musical productions. I was also a guest performer with The Denver Philharmonic Orchestra, the Loveland Orchestra, the Greeley Chamber Orchestra, and the Pikes Peak Philharmonic. Competitive awards include:

Winner of Semper Pro Musica piano competition, offering a solo performance in Carnegie Hall’s famed Weil Recital Hall.

1st place at Baylor University Summer Piano Institute, Steinway Piano Competition, and state MTNA

2nd place at CSMTA

3rd place at Kawai and Yamaha competitions

Finalist in the Colorado Piano Festival, Arthur Frasier International Piano Competition, and Baylor Concerto Competition.

4.0 GPA in undergraduate; theory courses up through the doctoral level; an extensive performance background; and most importantly, a love of music and a passion for sharing it with others!

Composition (Music)

Composition (Music)

I have a master's degree in piano, during which I took doctoral level courses from the composition department. I am a published composer and have had my works premiered in three states. I have experience with a wide range of styles from classical to indie pop to jazz.

Computer

Music Production

Music Production

I began producing concerts and recordings in high school, and while it is not a topic I have a degree in, I have a large amount of experience in it, with one published album, a second on the way, and thousands of hours working within GarageBand and Logic Pro, as well as more limited experience with Ableton and Cubase

History

Music History

Music History

I went through Baylor University's notoriously rigorous 2-year series of music history courses, in addition to having begun studying music history as early as elementary school. I earned all A's in every music history course I took, and I have continued taking graduate-level music history courses as electives during my graduate degree.

Piano

Piano

I have studied piano now for over two decades, and recently completed my master's in the instrument at the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California, which is one of the most prestigious collaborative piano programs in the world. I have maintained a strong solo career throughout my time in education as well, and have performed with half a dozen orchestras as well as made my Carnegie debut.

Ear Training,

Ear Training

I have extremely strong relative pitch. I have taken theory/ear-training courses all the way through the doctoral level, and have a master's in music. I also tutored ear training consistently during my undergraduate, and am frequently hired by musicians to make aural transcriptions of parts that are not commercially available.
General Music,

General Music

For general music/music appreciation, I feel that my degree more than qualifies me. However, I have specifically strong music theory and music history backgrounds as well.

Sight Singing,

Sight Singing

This is a difficult topic to submit hard and fast qualifications for. However, as a high schooler, I was offered a position in a professional opera company chorus because I was able to sight read more proficiently than the graduate music students who normally auditioned. My degree has focused significantly on vocal coaching, which requires me to consistently be able to sight sing my vocalists' parts.
Voice (Music),

Voice (Music)

My most recent degree can be focused either on chamber music playing or vocal coaching, and I opted to focus on the latter. I began coaching singers in high school, and this last year I was the teaching assistant for the USC opera department which, among other things, required me to regularly coach the graduate vocalists in the program.
