I have been incredibly fortunate by the many wonderful teachers and tutors who have helped me succeed throughout my education, and I am committed to applying this passion toward any of your goals—for college admission, general academic success, or otherwise.

I specialize in SAT/ACT preparation along with its constitutive math, reading, and writing skills. I have tutored over 1000 hours in these capacities, including in private and classroom settings. In the past, my students have seen 100+ point increases between test sittings, and many have been subsequently accepted into top colleges and universities.

I would be happy to talk to you and see if I'm a good fit for your needs. Feel free to reach out!

Public Speaking

I have been coaching public speaking and debate for close to 4 years in both public and private settings. As an ex-high school debater and a current participant in college model UN and college debate, I have been highly trained to adapt my speaking style to whatever circumstance I find myself in. Consequently, I am able to work with students in arriving at their public speaking goals, according to what setting they may be needed. I can do anything from helping you with a presentation to training you for a nationals debate conference!

Grammar,

Grammar

As an experienced writer myself, I believe that writing is the quintessential skill for any student. I'm a published poet and an avid liberal arts proponent, so I identify with a strong passion for words, sentences, and writing. I've been tutoring writing in various capacities for over 3 years. Depending on the age of the student, my approach to teaching grammar is to utilize exercises in writing and reading; I strongly believe that memorization of grammar is not as useful as the immediate application of it. These types of exercises also prove invaluable for the student when they come back around to take the SAT or ACT. Feel free to reach out if you have questions!

SAT Reading,

SAT Reading

I've been tutoring the SAT in various capacities for upwards of 2 years, after earning a near perfect score on the SAT reading portion myself. My tutoring philosophy is to emphasize conceptual understanding within a problem-solving framework, allowing for the broadest range of application possible. I enjoy spending sessions trying to balance concept with technicality; for some students that means more time spent on broad sweeping principles, and for others, on practice and retrieval. The best way to learn SAT reading is to have guided practice sessions, where the student is reading passages and answering questions under the guidance of a tutor. From there, I can provide strategies and tips to better streamline the reading comprehension and employ critical thinking ability on the test. Feel free to reach out if you have questions!

As a legislative staffer for four years, I am extensively familiar with the technical aspects of American State government. This is the backdrop on which I have academically pursued American governmental history, economic trends, and political movements.
