As a Summa Cum Laude graduate (BS. Chemistry, Albany State University, 2010), and a Magna Cum Laude graduate (BSc. Natural Resources, University of Science and Technology, 2005), I aspire to become an academic pharmacist, teach in one of the world's leading universities, and train the next generation of highly competent pharmacists. Currently, I am preparing to graduate with my Doctor of Pharmacy Degree this May 2019 from the Keck Graduate Institute (KGI), a member of the Claremont Colleges. At KGI, I have been a Presidential Excellence Scholar, Teaching Assistant, Peer Mentor, and past president of the KGI School of Pharmacy Tutoring Team. In May 2018, I was voted as the Third-Year Student Pharmacist of the Year. This award is given to only one student in each pharmacy class based on academic excellence, and contributions to leadership, service and/or research. Currently, I am on year-long pharmacy rotations so I may be in and out of the Upland area. However, do not hesitate to reach out to me if you need expert assistance in general chemistry or organic chemistry for College students or AP/General Chemistry tutoring for High School students.
Some of the students I have tutored in the past attended or currently attend schools like the Claremont colleges, UCLA, USC, UC Berkeley, United States Naval Academy, Cal-Poly-Pomona, Azusa Pacific, and several others. Also, I have volunteered as a tutor for colleagues and students more than I have tutored for money! It is the ultimate satisfaction that I get whenever I help a student with a C or failing class grade to finish with a B+ or better that drives me to tutor. It is the spirit in me that seeks perfection and satisfaction in others and in whatever I do that motivates me to tutor.
While a chemistry student at Albany State University, I tutored my colleagues in pre-calculus, chemistry, organic chemistry, biology, and biochemistry, among other classes for free! Since I already had a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resources before deciding to pursue second Bachelor's, I was older and more experienced than most of my classmates. However, as an ardent believer in inclusion, teamwork, and intellectual accommodation, I used my prior college background and experiences to assist my colleagues in laboratories and homework assignments. Subsequently, I was able to establish excellent professional interpersonal relationships with them; an attribute that is very important in being a coach or tutor of students at any level on the academic ladder.
In the above two paragraphs, we have heard of my belief in quality tutoring that is not inspired by money, my belief in high expectations with respect to academic success, and above all, my inclusive attitude toward a team-based approach to success that emphasizes professional interpersonal relationships. If after reading these paragraphs, you are convinced that this is the person you want to hire as a tutor for yourself, a friend, or a son/daughter, then read the genesis of my passion for tutoring below:
As a student at Albany State University, I spent most of my 'free time' volunteering in my mentor's physics research laboratory. It was during this time that I met a female colleague who was struggling in our general chemistry class. She offered to pay me to tutor her, but I was quite hesitant since I did not like the idea of charging a fellow colleague. After, several appeals, I decided to assist her at no cost and without any attached strings. She had a grade of D after the mid-term exams before we started studying together. However, through hard work, encouragement, and respect for each other, we worked together for her to make a final grade of B in general chemistry. I was exempted from the finals. To me, the sense of joy and confidence that I saw in her eyes after seeing her grade were non-quantifiable and more important than any money she could have given me. I felt so fulfilled and accomplished after that. Today, she is a very successful middle-grade science teacher and I am so proud to have had the opportunity to be a part of her success story.
Eventually, I signed up officially and tutored in several courses including general chemistry, biology, biochemistry, calculus/pre-calculus and later in physical chemistry. Because of my passion for research and my mastery of oral presentations, I volunteered to assist in Power-Point presentations and research projects at no cost. I have always believed in collective success from childhood. I believe that if we help each other to succeed, there will be less competition and envy in this world. To me, personal success and failure for my mentees or colleagues is a collective failure for us all. This is my principal philosophy!
If you believe in a person who puts a value on inclusion, respect for his students, and high expectations for academic success through teamwork and professional interpersonal relationships, then I will always be at your service. Whether you are in High school or in college, I would be glad to work with you. I also assist students to write their personal statements for graduate, pharmacy, nursing, and medical school.
Thank you and stay blessed!
Hit or Miss? Definitely a Hit!
During my first tutoring session with Kofi, he made it clear that it is important to obtain a clear understanding of the concepts and why specific events happen. I had no idea what to expect because my only experience with O-Chem was through a book with no lecture. Kofi is an excellent tutor. He is patient, respectful, very clear, and knows his stuff! I loved that if I had even the slightest bit of doubt in my voice, he would revisit the material until I understood. From what I can tell during my first lesson, Kofi does not take it easy on his students. He will tell you what you need to know for success. Trust him and everything will make sense. Kofi has helped me accomplish a strong base that will later be built upon the further we go. Before our first session I told Kofi that I had no interest in O-Chem and actually dislike it. However, after our first session I quite enjoyed the subject. He makes it fun! I would recommend Kofi if you are looking for a passionate, knowledgeable, and strong teacher.Alexandria, 2 lessons with KofiTutor responded:
Hello Alexandria, Thank you so much for this wonderful, and genuine feedback! I am glad that you now see the bright side of organic chemistry. It can definitely be fun, if you approach it the right way. You are a very intelligent lady, considering the fact that you are taking this course online, and as such almost everything you knew before we met was self-taught. I am glad you gave me the opportunity to assist you, and to help deepen your understanding of the key concepts of o-chem. Keep working hard, and I am confident you will do very well in the course. Stay in touch, and stay blessed! Kofi
Excellent chemistry tutor!
My daughter got behind in AP Chemistry because of her participation in school trip to Europe followed by missing a week of school due to illness. She was losing hope. Thanks to Kofi, she is building her confidence back up because she understands what he is teaching her. We had some bad chem tutors we hired in the past. Many claim to know chemistry but when they arrived my daughter had to correct them with their mistakes. Kofi doesn't need any books because he knows the material inside and out. He is better than the rest. Thank you, Kofi!George, 1 lesson with KofiTutor responded:

Thank you, and stay blessed!!
Great Biochem tutor!!!
Dr. Kofi explained the concepts and principles of biochemistry so well! I was so scared to go to class before I had a lesson with Dr. Kofi and now I am excited to attend my class and take my exam! I am very happy I have taken Biochemistry years ago and I have never understood Biochem this well he teaches in a way that you don’t have to memorize all but to understand it by heart and made it much simpler to understand. Thank you so much and I will make sure to recommend Dr Kofi to all people that are struggling to learn Biochemistry.Cristina, 1 lesson with KofiTutor responded:

Very thorough and passionate!
Kofi was so accommodating to my schedule and was very thorough! I had printed my biochemistry lectures slides, and he made sure to cover the slides in depth. He also provided great tips of possible test questions to look out for. He tutors in a lecture-like structure and encourages you to dig for answers and reason them out. I will keep seeing him!Theresa, 2 lessons with KofiTutor responded:

Very Knowledgeable and Kind
Kofi and I worked on acids and bases and chemical equilibrium. The way he explained the concepts was phenomenal. He taught me shortcuts that I never knew before.Varun, 1 lesson with KofiTutor responded:
Thank you for your kind feedback, Varun! Keep up the good work. I will always do my best to assist you. KA
First impression of Kofi was his passion for the subject. I’ve been completely lost and confused in my organic chemistry class for the past 3 weeks. He helped me make connections between functional groups for better understanding over memorization. I can honestly say that I retained a good amount of information from him in just one session.Jessica, 1 lesson with Kofi
Patient and friendly
Kofi teached me chemistry and in just 2 hours of lesson he transmitted me passion for this beautiful subject. During the lesson I was comfortable asking question when I didn't understand and he was very patient and he supported me.Stefano, 2 lessons with KofiTutor responded:
Hello Stefano, thank you for your nice review. I really appreciate that. I hope by the time you return back to Italy, your chemistry foundation will be very strong. Let me know if you need any assistance. Thank you.
Knowledgeable and very patient.
Kofi is very knowledgeable in chemistry, he taught me the concept of the periodic table, ocetet rule, isotopes, ionization, atomic size, difference between rows and columns, and basic conversion , which I was struggling with prior to meeting him. He broke down every single thing and illustrated it with everyday example in such a way that I could relate to it. Most importantly he was very patient with me since I have a zero knowledge in chemistry . He made sure I understood the topics before proceeding to the next. I will definitely give him a 5 star. I will also recommmend him to anyone who wants to understand chemistry, this guy is definitely the tutor you need.Nkechi, 1 lesson with KofiTutor responded:
Hello Nkechi, Thank you for such a sincere feedback. I truly enjoy working with you. Also, I am glad that our session helped you get a good grasp of the concepts being taught in class. I will do my possible best to make time for you in the future when you need assistance. Thank you. Kofi
