As a Summa Cum Laude graduate (BS. Chemistry, Albany State University, 2010), and a Magna Cum Laude graduate (BSc. Natural Resources, University of Science and Technology, 2005), I aspire to become a research scientist in infectious diseases, and also teach in one of the world's leading research universities. Currently, I am pursuing my Doctorate of Pharmacy at the Keck Graduate Institute, Claremont (Greater Los Angeles area). Money, although an important incentive, has never been the driving force behind my quest to tutor students. In fact, I have volunteered my services at no cost to students and my colleagues more than I have tutored for money! It is the ultimate satisfaction that I get whenever I help say, a student making a C or failing a class to finish that class with a B+ or better that drives me to tutor. It is the spirit in me that seeks perfection and satisfaction in others and in whatever I do that motivates me to tutor.
While a chemistry student at Albany State University, I tutored my colleagues in pre-calculus, chemistry, organic chemistry, biology and biochemistry, among other classes for free! Since I already had a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resources before deciding to become a premed student, I was older and more experienced than majority of my classmates. However, as an ardent believer in inclusion, team work and intellectual accommodation, I used my prior college background and experiences to assist my colleagues in laboratories and homework assignments. Subsequently, I was able to establish excellent professional inter-personal relationships with them; an attribute that is very important in being a coach or tutor of students at any level on the academic ladder.
In the above three paragraphs, we have heard of my belief in quality tutoring that is not inspired by money, my belief in high expectations with respect to academic success, and above all, my inclusive attitude toward a team-based approach to success that emphasizes professional inter-personal relationships. If after reading these paragraphs, you are convinced that this is the person you want to hire as a tutor for yourself, a friend, or a son/daughter, then read the genesis of my passion for tutoring below:
As a student at Albany State University, I spent majority of my 'free time' volunteering in my mentor's physics research laboratory. It was during this time that I met a female colleague who was struggling in our general chemistry class. She offered to pay me to tutor her but I was quite hesitant since I did not like the idea of taking money from a person that I was taking a class with in order to assist her. After, several appeals, I decided to assist her at no cost and without any attached strings. She had a grade of D after the mid-term exams before we started studying together. However, through hard work, encouragement, and respect for each other, we worked together for her to make a final grade of B in general chemistry. I was exempted from the finals. To me, the sense of joy and confidence that I saw in her eyes after seeing her grade were non-quantifiable and more important than any money she could have given me. I felt so fulfilled and accomplished after that. Today, she is a middle-grade science teacher and I am so proud to have had the opportunity to be part of her success story.
Eventually, I signed up officially, and tutored in several courses including general chemistry, biology, biochemistry, calculus/pre-calculus and later in physical chemistry. Through my passion for research and my mastery of oral presentations, I volunteered to assist in power point presentations and research projects at no cost. I have always believed in collective success from childhood. I believe that if we help each other to succeed, there will be less competition and envy in this world. To me, personal success and failure for my mentees or colleagues is a collective failure for us all. This is my principal philosophy!
Please, if you believe in a person who puts value on inclusion, respect for his students, and high expectations on academic success through team work and professional inter-personal relationships, then Tutor "Brain A" will always be at your service. Whether you are in middle school, high school or in college, I would be glad to work with you. I also assist students to write their personal statements for graduate, pharmacy, nursing, and medical school. It will be a privilege to tutor non-traditional students preparing for the ASVAB, GED, or the COMPASS test.
Thank you and stay blessed! As a Summa Cum Laude graduate (BS. Chemistry, Albany State University, 2010), and a Magna Cum Laude graduate (BSc. Natural Resources, University of Science and Technology, 2005), I aspire to become a research scientist in

Kofi was very helpful! I am finishing organic chemistry this quarter, but it had been a while since I took the first two classes. Kofi helped me to recall concepts from a while back as well as to make those ideas more understandable. His examples really helped me to remember the concepts and to think of them differently, particularly with functional groups and nomenclature. He is also very enthusiastic about teaching and really wants you to excel. I would highly recommend him.
Thank you so much for such a thoughtful feedback, Austin. I will continue to do my best to help you solidify your organic chemistry knowledge base. Keep up the with good work!
I am a college student and Kofi tutors me in organic chemistry! He is extremely passionate about teaching me organic chemistry and it has really motivated me and helped me stay interested while he is tutoring me! He finds the most simple way to explain things and really breaks it down to its core! I need baby steps and he is willing to walk and talk me through every step. I recommend him to any student looking for a tutor who will really care and believe in them!
This is very nice of you, Bowie. I am glad to have helped you see organic chemistry in a different way. Keep up with the good work!
After my daughter's first session, she said she really enjoyed their first session and really liked his approach to teaching.
Wow! Thank you for such a speedy feedback, mum! I am glad your daughter enjoyed our session. Thank you.
Mr. Kofi possesses a sound understanding of the subject the matter, and the ability to foster a greater understanding of chemistry to my son. He has had such a positive impact on my son by increasing his confidence and motivation to excel.
He is an excellent tutor!
I am dearly appreciative of your positive feedback Mrs. Ayanna! I would continue doing my very best to assist your son in chemistry. Thank you.
Kofi is a wonderful tutor. He has been tutoring my 10th and 8th grade sons for the past couple of months. Both of their test scores and class grades in Chemistry, Geometry, and 8th grade math have gone up. I wish I had found him at the beginning of the school year, but thankful we have him now as our tutor. We wish to continue with Kofi next school year as well.
I recommend him to anyone.
Thank you so much for your very kind feedback Alicia. I wish your sons all the best!!!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My academic experience includes a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry (Summa Cum Laude, Albany State University, 2010) and a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources (Magna Cum Laude, University of Science & Technology, 2005). Currently, I am a Doctor of Pharmacy Student at the Keck Graduate Institute School of Pharmacy, Claremont (Greater Los Angeles Area), and the senior chemistry and physics tutor at Georgia Perimeter College (Decatur Campus) where I provide expert tutoring in General and Organic Chemistry, Physics, and mathematics. Together, I have about 10 years (including 4 years of undergraduate tutoring) of tutoring experience in geometry, pre-algebra, pre-calculus and trigonometry. I have tutored mathematics since 1999 and know how to motivate students. I have successfully prepared students for the AP, GRE, GED, ASVAB, COMPASS, CRCT, and currently the the Georgia Milestone for High School Students. My patient approach allows me to connect with adult students who have been away from school for 10+ years. I tutor students in middle school to college.

Together, I have about 10 years (including 4 years of undergraduate tutoring) of tutoring experience in algebra 2. I have tutored algebra 2 since 1999 and know how to motivate students. I have successfully prepared students for the algebra sections of AP, GRE, GED, ASVAB, COMPASS, and CRCT. Currently, I am preparing some of my students for the algebra 2 portion of the Georgia Milestone for High School Students.
Officially, I have tutored biochemistry in the US since 2008. However, I also have a solid background in biological chemistry and biochemistry from my first Bachelors degree in Natural Resources. Collectively, I have used my extensive background in chemistry, organic chemistry, and biology to help my students appreciate the inter-relatedness of these subjects and biochemistry. At Georgia Perimeter College where I was a senior science tutor, I tutored students (especially nursing students and other health sciences majors) in biochemistry for 2 years. Currently, a Doctor of Pharmacy student at Keck Graduate Institute, my daily use of biochemistry and related disciplines means that I am always broadening my knowledge base and practical understanding of medical and bio-pharmaceutical biochemistry. All these knowledge help me to better explain some of the complex topics that make students fear biochemistry. I know how to motivate students to study basic concepts in carbohydrate, lipids, and amino acids metabolism. Also, I enjoy assisting students in enzymology and enzyme kinetics and dynamics, protein synthesis, and recombinant DNA technology. As a student with keen interest in teaching and research, I successfully competed and won rigorous research internships from University of California, Davis (antioxidant chemistry), Massachusetts Institute of Technology, MIT (Vector bio-engineering for infectious diseases research), and Merck Research Laboratories, Boston (medicinal chemistry research). Throughout the years, I have used these experiences to enhance my students' rate of comprehension of complex principles in biochemistry. Despite my academic backgrounds Chemistry (Summa Cum Laude, Albany State University, 2010) and Natural Resources (Magna Cum Laude, University of Science & Technology, 2005), I believe in a dynamic approach to tutoring, and continue to study to become a better professional. In that light, I also tutor from a standardized test approach to provide the needed challenges required to excel in the MCAT, DAT, PCAT and TEAS.
My academic experience and expertise in chemistry started from High School where I completed a very rigorous and selective 3-year science-based program that prepares students for the health and applied sciences. I took pure chemistry, pure maths, pure biology, and pure physics for three years. Afterwards, I pursued a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources at the University of Science and Technology, obtained 'A's in subjects such as biological chemistry, biochemistry, and pulp & wood chemistry and physics, and graduated with a Magna Cum Laude (Honors). Next, I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at Albany State University, and graduated with a Summa Cum Laude obtaining 'A's in all science classes attempted including general chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, and physical chemistry. Together, I have about 15 years of tutoring experience in chemistry, 8 years in organic chemistry. I have tutored general chemistry since 1999 and know how to motivate students. Also, I tutor from a standardized test approach to provide the needed challenges required to excel in the MCAT, DAT, PCAT and TEAS. I recently resigned from my post as the senior chemistry and physics tutor at Georgia Perimeter College (Decatur Campus) where I provided expert tutoring in General and Organic Chemistry, and Physics. Currently, I am a Doctor of Pharmacy Student at the Keck Graduate Institute School of Pharmacy, Claremont (Greater Los Angeles Area).
Dear Potential students and parents,
I have 8 years of tutoring experience in organic chemistry I and II. While a college student, I tutored organic chemistry to my peers and lower class colleagues from 2008 to 2010. I recently resigned from my post as the senior organic chemistry tutor at Georgia Perimeter College where I held small group sessions and discussions with students to explain fundamental concepts and their respective applications. My struggles with organic chemistry, and years of tutoring experience have given me a very strong grasp of the reaction mechanisms that form the core of organic chemistry. From nomenclature through reaction mechanisms to spectroscopy, I have devised very practical yet simple test taking skills that will help the average student to overcome the 'notoriety' associated with organic chemistry. I got As in both Organic I and II, and have extensive background in biological chemistry, and biochemistry as well. All these subjects are intertwined and enhance my abilities to tutor and mentor a student to excel in organic chemistry.
In addition, I do not solely depend on organic chemistry textbooks but also on MCAT preparation materials from Exam Crackers and Kaplan to help simplify and drive home concepts while building on the critical thinking skills needed to excel in those kind of testing environments.
