Hi! I'm a former professor and middle school teacher who is excited to return to my core passion - teaching. My favorite part of teaching is that "a-ha" moment that comes when you've been struggling with a concept and it finally clicks. I taught full time for five years before spending a few years in the business world doing computer programming. I quit that job to work at a non-profit that runs field trips for middle and high school students, teaching them the scientific method through hands-on learning. Due to COVID-19, the field trips have come to a halt. I took time off to travel in my van and now that I'm relatively settled, I'm signing up for Wyzant to connect with students for tutoring.
I'm totally excited to get back to teaching and working one-on-one with students. I'm proficient in most Math subjects, Biology, and can also edit papers (my favorite part of college was all the 10-15 page papers we got to write). In my past I was a Visiting Lecturer for Chemistry and a middle school science and robotics teacher. I spent a year tutoring mostly high school math and science with a few middle school students as well. I love all things learning and can't wait to work with you!
My college major was Natural Science and I have a Master's degree in Chemistry. As such, I've taken many of the upper-level math courses. But don't fret! I know that math is hard, and I'm here to break it down into digestible chunks of delicious information. As I wrote in my bio, I spent a year tutoring high school math and loved it.
If you're looking for an out-of-the-box kind of tutor, I'm the right pick. I might make some jokes that you find funny, or you'll groan and go "oh man, she's lame, but I still kind of like her". As a teacher, I earned the reputation of being a tough, but fair grader. I have the same expectations for my tutoring students. Contact me if you not only want to have fun, but also want to improve your grades and get some excellent help.
