This is your chance to study English as a Second Language (ESL) with a credentialed and experienced teacher who has successfully taught students English from Preschool through adult levels. I started teaching at the elementary level, and then taught ESL to high school and college students, as well as becoming a bilingual program administrator at the school and district levels in California, and an educational specialist for the State Department of Education in Massachusetts. I am bilingual (English/Spanish), have lived and worked in a number of states, and several other countries, and have taught English to students from many different language backgrounds. I enjoy meeting people from other cultures, and helping them reach their English educational goals, so I am looking forward to working with you!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am qualified to teach this subject because I have been a Bible student all of my life. I have attended Christian schools where Bible classes were part of the daily curriculum. In addition, as a teacher, I have been privileged to give Bible studies to students at various levels of schooling. My husband is a pastor, and together we have had the honor of providing Biblical guidance to many people over the past 26 years.
I am an experienced elementary school teacher who has taught every grade from Kindergarten through 6th grade. I hold a current, clear, multiple subject teaching credential in California for Pre-K through adult education levels, as well as a professional administrative services credential. I have done individual tutoring, as well as teaching in single-grade and multi-grade classrooms. In addition, I am bilingual (English/Spanish), and have helped many students from culturally and linguistically-diverse backgrounds to learn English.
I have taught ESL at all educational levels, but my most recent experience is at the college level, with young adult language learners. I have taught classes in ESL reading, writing, conversation, pronunciation, and grammar. I have also taught non-academic community English classes for adult learners who were recent arrivals in the United States. While many of my students were at the beginning level of English acquisition, I have also taught intermediate and advanced ESL classes. For the last two years, I have also specialized in doing individual tutoring for adult learners from outside of the U.S. who have been sent by their employers for short-term ESL instruction.
I hold credentials for teaching ESL in two states. I have taught English to adults in community ESL classes, as well as adults enrolled in American College ESL programs. Most recently, I have tutored adults who have come here from other countries to learn English in order to improve their job performance, or to pass the TOEFL so that they could take regular college-level classes here in the U.S.
