Having taught elementary school in Capistrano Unified School District for the past 20 years and working in preschools many years before that, I have always had a love of working with young children. I have taught grades K-3 during my tenure in Capistrano Unified. Approaching teaching in a creative engaging way with students allows learning to blossom.
My educational background includes attending Brigham Young University and Cal State Fullerton. I graduated with my bachelor's in liberal studies and a minor in child development. I received my clear multiple subjects credential from Cal State Fullerton. Each year I continue my professional development my attending training in a variety of seminars including UCI Math project, Discovery Education English/Language Arts, Orange County of Department of Education classes and California Teacher Association Conferences. I also take professional development education courses offered through Cal State Fullerton.
I specialize in tutoring reading, phonics, writing and K-3 math. To reinforce learning concepts I incorporate a variety of strategies including my students' favorite learning games to achieve their learning goals. During the summer months, keeping up with these skills is especially important to avoid "the summer slide" so your student will be ready and prepared for the next school year.
As a mother I understand that life is busy and sometimes plans need to be changed. I have a 24 hour cancellation policy but do offer make up sessions.

Natalie is helping my daughter with phonics and reading. Ryan loves working with Natalie. She has confidence and feels good about reading in front of peers now.
Ms Natalie is a friendly and pleasant teacher who bonded with my 3 year old instantly. Ms Natalie did an amazing job at making lessons fun and easy to follow. She works well with toddlers and was able to keep their limited attention span with her creative activities. I look forward to many future sessions together.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a credentialed teacher in Capistrano Unified school district. I have completed the requirements for the phonics certificate for CUSD. I have been teaching kindergarten students to read and write for the past 16 years utilizing techniques and skills from many programs including Open Court, zoo phonics and "The Phonics Game".
I am a teacher in Capistrano Unified School district with a multiple subjects Clear CLAD credential for the past 20 years. I have taught kindergarten for the past 17 years. I have also taught 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade. I have been trained in SOAR TO SUCCESS and have my RIC (phonics) certificate. I have passed the Wyzant reading test with 90%
