About Mo

I studied Fine Art at UCLA where I developed my drawing and painting skills and in 2011 I made the transition into digital by taking classes for 4 years in the LA area. I am currently teaching digital painting at Brainstorm School in Burbank, CA where I teach students how to draw and paint in Photoshop and how to design with color and light.

I began painting with an airbrush in 1998 and have made the transition into digital in 2011. Art, Photography, and Video have always been an integral part of my creation process. Studying photography has taught me how to see light and create an image that is pleasing to the viewer. Extensively studying film and concept art and design, I have learned the value of telling a compelling story.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Basketball

I have been an active player since I was 9 years old when I picked up the game without any parental pressure.

I am 6'1" tall and I can play any position. I am still playing to this day at 37 years old, waiting for my son to be old enough to enjoy the game.

I have tutored a class of 4 in the summer in high school, and have all of the fundamental techniques such as footwork and shooting mechanics that can be broken down and explained to all ages.

Drawing

I studied Fine Art at UCLA where I developed my drawing and painting skills and in 2011 I made the transition into digital painting and illustration by taking Entertainment Design for 4 years in the LA area.

For the past 2 years, I have been teaching digital painting at Brainstorm School in Burbank, CA called DC1: Design with Color and Light where I teach students how to draw and paint in Photoshop.

We draw and paint from real life, plein-air paint, and study film, photography, and paintings from the Great Masters to better understand the philosophy behind a good drawing and painting.

Photography

I have owned a DSLR since 2009 but had always been intrigued with digital photography since my first 1 megapixel HP camera in 2001.

You can see samples of my recent photography upon request. I have moved on from Nikon to Fuji as my main system and enjoy taking 100's of photos weekly.

I can answer all of your questions regarding the use of your camera, the workflow in managing your photos safely, and dive into the intention of the photography that you will be making.

Video Production

I studied Fine Art at UCLA where I developed my artistic sensibilities and in 2002 I began to shoot and edit basketball videos for myself and friends with my first DV Canon camera.

I am deeply entrenched in the mirrorless camera world, shooting with a Panasonic G7 and editing in Final Cut Pro X. I started a small company to help small businesses create short videos for their business.

Samples of my work are available upon request.
