I am patient and love working with kids, teens or anyone who wants to learn. I am good at explaining and easily develop a rapport with my students. I find that a sense of humor in tutoring is invaluable at making learning more enjoyable. I am creative and adjust my teaching methods to your student’s learning style. I am organized, reliable and prompt and look forward to that “aha” moment when the light of understanding shines in my students’ eyes. My students’ increased confidence following such moments is very gratifying.
I have a degree in Math and Computer Science from UCLA. My work experience includes over 10 years at Xerox, where I excelled in programming and design. I also worked on the Unix kernel at Citicorp. Of course, my past work experience includes tutoring, with the caveat that my tutoring prior to WyzAnt has been as a volunteer, so you can tell I really enjoy it.
I have a passion for youth and math – call me and let’s talk about how I can help you!

Lynne is a knowledgeable and patient tutor. She has done wonders with my 2 children ages 12 and 10. We highly recommend her to anyone seeking a tutor. She is working on math with my kids. They like her, respond well to her, and actually look forward to their time with her. She responds to emails quickly, easy to set appointment with, always keeps our appointments, always on time. We have nothing but positive comments about Lynne.
Able to help my daughter with math when she is not really responsive. Able to adapt the situation so she will learn the lesson and understand the assignment. Able to work using a dry erase board to help visually explain to my daughter.
I was able to get Jennifer's daughter to respond better when I revised some of her Math problems to involve things she is interested in, like baking and Pokemon, and using the actual names of her friends in word problems. I also traded roles with her sometimes, asking her to be the teacher while I was the student with many, many questions.
I want to extend my deepest gratitude to Lynne. When I got home last Friday Dec 6, 2013, my son was very happy to have met with his tutor. After the first session, he said good things like - Lynne is very smart, teaches better than his algebra teacher. He understands your explanations better than his teacher. All the things he reported to me after his first tutorial experience are all positive, and he told me that he is more confident now to go to algebra class than before.
My son is very shy, but he told me he was glad I chose Lynne for him. By looking at Lynne's picture on her profile I knew that she would be right one for him.
Thank you so much! I know God gave you an extra gift to be a channel of blessings to others to help kids like my son. Thank you for extending your sympathy to others, your motivation and love to your profession.
Lynne has been working with my son for a while now, and she is a wonderful tutor. She is easy to listen to and explains herself perfectly to my son. He gathers whatever information he needs to present to her every week and she helps him with it every time. We are lucky to have her!
I am very impressed how my son's thinking and self esteem is building up. Lynne is great in updating in each lesson she tutors for that day. My son's looks forward to the next lesson. She is very professional and is always on top on what my son's teacher is teaching in order to reinforce and tweak what is necessary.
I highly recommend Lynne, she is very patient, always on time. I am very happy to have her as my son's private tutor.
Lynne is a great tutor and I would recommend her to anyone, she is very patient and seems to really be concerned with her student getting it, she does special things that she doesn't have to, like sending me emails to remind of what we covered, and additional information pertaining to the subject matter. She makes the lesson seems so easy and has shown me how algebra seems to be way more complicated than it actually is, She is very prompt, organized and professional, and you will not be disappointed with her as a tutor.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
The CBEST tests abilities in reading, writing and math. I am approved by WyzAnt to tutor in all these subjects, as well as proofreading. I enjoy math the most and have tutored WyzAnt students in Algebra 1 and 2, as well as Geometry. I am most interested in helping students with the math portion of the CBEST. I am a graduate of UCLA, love to read and am qualified to tutor in vocabulary and spelling. Because of my ability to write, I am currently the grant writer for a local non-profit.
I have helped a student with his high school English essays for 4 years. I am very familiar with the most common errors students make when writing papers. When proofreading a paper, I look for agreement between subject and verb, consistent voice, correct spelling and the misuse of apostrophes. The errors sound so wrong, it's as though they jump out at me, clamoring for immediate attention.
