Fresno City College (Foreign Language)
Hello, my name is Daniel. As a tutor, I was qualified to tutor students in the subjects of English, Spanish, French and German by Fresno City College's Tutorial Center. I worked at the Tutorial Center for 2 years, and during my time there I found that I was mostly successful in my attempts to help people understand their subject material. I also found that I had the patience to work with students for extended periods of time on single notions or problems that were particularly confusing or difficult to understand for some students. During my time at the Tutorial Center, I saw many tutors become frustrated with students who took longer to grasp certain subjects or the solutions to certain problems, which resulted in those tutors essentially giving up on the student. Because of my patience, many students with learning disabilities or physical handicaps came to me with their studies, as they knew I would not give up on them and leave them to figure things out on their own.
As a tutor, I believe it is my duty to help people understand the things that they're having trouble with, and to never give up on a student because they're struggling with something. After all, if a student wasn't struggling with something, then why would they have come to me for tutoring advice? I also believe that tutoring is more about helping people to achieve a lasting insight that they can carry with them through life, and less about helping someone to correctly answer questions on a test. Whenever I tutor a student, my goal is always the understanding of the underlying subject, not just how to put the right words in the right order for whatever assignment is being worked on.
All this being said, if you're looking for someone who will take the time to help you or your child to really understand their work, and who has the patience to see the task through, then I would be happy to help turn frustration into achievement. I wish you all good luck and success in your studies, and thank you for taking the time to read this.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
