N.I.D.A. UNIVERSITY OF N.S.W. (Fine Arts - Drama)
My background and education are as varied as the amount of countries I have lived and worked in. I have a range of life experience that spans the globe. From Military Officer to the National Drama Academy to Actor/Director/Singer and Public Speaker. I was born and raised in South Wales and completed my education in Sydney, Australia. I have worked on films and television programs from New Zealand to The Philippines, Scotland to Australia and of course here in the United States, both in front of and behind the camera.
I enjoy working in an environment where I can use my strong interpersonal skills to do meaningful work. At this time in my life I am most interested in helping young people to progress. I have two sons I brought up as a single father, one of whom is about to enter a doctorate program (at the age of 24) and the pursuit of education has always been a major force in our family. My interests are reading and writing, public speaking, film (particularly editing), theater, music and philanthropy.
I have a great love of the written and spoken word. This has undoubtedly been nurtured by my early background in theater. My studies at the National Institute of Dramatic Arts covered all aspects including English and The History of Theater.
Since leaving the Army, my entire life has been devoted to working in the Arts - Theater, Film and Television. I have worked as an actor/director/singer and public speaker all over the world and I have also produced and directed both for other companies (I was a Producer/Director for the ABC Network's Award-Winning program "That's Incredible") and I have produced, directed and edited for my own company, including a film I made working with the legendary Ray Bradbury.
Learning and teaching are a lifelong passion for me. I enjoy nothing more than watching others develop and achieve their own potential and to help them realize their hopes and dreams. I have worked
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have worked in all aspects of the film industry. In front of the camera I have worked as an actor in films around the world. I gained my education as a Producer/Director/Editor while working for the ABC Network. I have since performed all of these duties on my own productions. I have an extensive knowledge of the Final Cut X editing program.
I first became aware of public speaking when debating in High School. As an officer in the Army, one of my main tasks was giving lectures and talks to the men under my command. I attended the National Drama Academy which also involved me appearing in front of people. I was a well-known television actor while in Australia and was frequently invited to be a keynote speaker. At this present time I am teaching Public Speaking to business groups.
The core of video production is editing. I trained as an editor while working for the ABC Network. This knowledge has been put to use in projects that I have produced and directed in Australia, New Zealand, the U.K. and the United States. A highlight of my career was working in conjunction with the late Ray Bradbury when I produced, directed, edited and co-wrote an adaptation of one of his short stories, 'The Pedestrian'. I have a thorough knowledge of camera and lighting and am proficient in the use of Final Cut Pro X, one of the definitive editing programs used in the industry.
