Pasadena City College (Nursing)
Hi everyone! My name is Amy B. I am currently attending California Sate University of Los Angeles, majoring in Nursing. My current main job is at a cafe in El Monte. I transfered out of Pasadena City College a year ago but when I was there, I was a Math tutor (teaching from Pre-algebra, Elementary & Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, and Precalculus). I worked as a math tutor for 5 years. For the past three summers, I was a math tutor/mentor for incoming freshman in Math Jam (an intensive math preparation program designed to prepare students for their upcoming Math course and prepare students to retake the Math Placement Test). I was also a Teacher's Assistant to three Math professors at PCC.
I might seem as if a very busy person, but teaching math has always been my passion. It is something that I have loved and continue loving since I was in high school.
I hold myself to a high standard. I will not charge the student if he/she is not satisfied with the experience. I am willing to work around schedules, if possible. I can also meet with the student at their place, or in a public area (library or Starbucks) or at my place, whatever is convenient!
Honestly, I am a very bubbly person. I never want an awkward moment with any of my student, I make learning fun! But I know when is the right time to play around and when it isn't. I am also a student and knows how a positive attitude makes a difference in my learning.
Please consider me to be your tutor! I am ready to work hard for YOU! Have a lovely day! Hi everyone! My name is Amy B. Amy was great. She was very helpful and patient with my daughter's algebra 2. She was a pleasure to work with.
The best tutor I have ever worked with. She explains things in a very clear and understandable manner. In the few lessons I have had, I have learned more than I thought possible. She is a very dedicated and talented tutor.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Algebra 2 has always been my favorite subject to teach since I started tutoring in high school. For the past two summers, I have been part of an intensive math preparation program designed to prepare student for college and their math courses. I become my students mentor and mini-professor for the whole program. For both times, I have taught Algebra.
