About David

I have a BS in Mathematics from the University of California, Riverside. I also attended California State University, San Marcos as a graduate student in Mathematics; the degree is incomplete and I discontinued the program. I've been tutoring since December 2013. I've tutored all ages, K through college.

I'm currently employed as a tutor in a group center and so I will have to work around that schedule. I am available Monday through Thursday before 2:00pm or after 7:00pm. If you want help on Friday or the weekend, I will have to work around the schedule of my other job. I have varying hours there and so I can't guarantee an exact appointment time.

I tutor Calculus BC, Calculus AB, Pre-Calculus, Trigonometry, Algebra II, Geometry, and Algebra I. If you need help with something else, such as a college course, then message me with what the subject is. I can tutor statistics if you are in the probability section of the material.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I have experience tutoring FOILing, factoring, finding the vertex of a parabola, using the quadratic formula, etc.

Algebra 2

I have experience tutoring about the properties of rational polynomials, synthetic division and long division of polynomials, algebra with imaginary numbers, etc.

Bible Studies

I've read the entire protestant bible, all 66 books. I am adept at reading the various versions. I've also taken a course on the bible in college.

Calculus

I have experience tutoring limits, derivatives, integrals, implicit differentiation, related rates, etc.

Chess

I've been playing chess my whole life. On the leading chess website, I play 15/10 rated games and my rating will typically float between 1400 and 1500 under those rules. I've seen a variety of tactics and tricks, and I've even been experimenting with my own opening move.

Finite Math

I've learned about a wide variety of Finite Math subjects, such as Discrete Math, Combinatorics, Number Theory, Abstract Algebra, Graph Theory, etc. I have limited experience tutoring these subjects, but I have garnered extensive collaboration experience while earning my degree.

Geometry

I tutor Geometry regularly. I have all of the formulas for area and volume memorized, and I know how and when to apply them.

Logic

I've taken two Logic courses and also many courses which utilize Logic. I have experience in tutoring Boolean Logic and Boolean Algebra.

Prealgebra

I've tutored the whole range of Pre-Algebra, from the introduction to the fact that variables can be manipulated just like numbers to the properties and methods of factoring polynomials.

Precalculus

I regularly tutor all aspects of Pre-Calculus, from rational polynomials to logarithms and trigonometric functions. This one is my favorite subjects!

Probability

I have taken courses such as Combinatorics and Ordered Graph Theory, which teach advanced methods of counting, ordering data, or determining probabilities. If you need help with material that is primarily Probability, then I can help.

SAT Math

I have experience tutoring SAT mathematics. I've seen many trick questions, trick answers, etc. If a problem seems too easy to be true, then it is!

Track & Field

I am a recreational jogger. A typical jog for me is around 12K. I am capable of going a lot farther if I feel the need to push myself. The most I've jogged was a 30K, which I have done three times.

Excellent Tutor!! — My son and daughter were near the end of the first quarter failing precalculus when David started tutoring them. Just after a couple lessons he helped pull up their grades to passing. They continued lessons with him through finals & both received B's on their finals. We were so thankful to David for helping them. They are currently in their second semester, starting well with A's and continuing w ...
