Hello,

My name is Brian and I graduated from the University of California, Riverside with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. I have taken pretty much every core math class from Algebra to Vector Calculus. Hello,

My name is Brian and I graduated from the University of California, Riverside with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. I have taken pretty much every core math class from Algebra to Vector Calculus. I have always excelled in math and during high school I found that I am also pretty good a teaching it to others.

I have been a tutor on this site for about 4 years now. I have helped students at all levels, but a majority of my students have been in high school or college. I tutored a bit in high school, mainly to help out friends and friends' siblings whenever it was needed. I helped classmates when they did not understand certain concepts in our math classes. I have helped many students raise their grades, but one that I will always remember is when I tutored a friend's younger brother for about a year and a half, in Geometry and Algebra 2. His parents asked if I could help him because he was struggling in geometry and we succeeded in raising his grade from a D on his first progress report to a B on his first report card. Then to an A on his second report card. Due to the immense progress that he made, his parents asked me to help him the following year in Algebra 2. I did not tutor very much during college, but I did help my younger sister, who was in high school, in Algebra 2 and Pre-Calculus. Even though she is now in college, she still calls or texts me when she needs some help in a math related subject.

In my personal opinion, practice really does make perfect when it comes to math because it is a subject that is easiest to learn and understand through repetition. Because of this, I will not simply do your homework for you. I help walk the student through the steps that need to be taken to solve a problem, and if necessary I try to make up problems on the spot to ensure that the student really understands the process. I truly think that people can learn anything, it is simply a matter of how much time and effort is put in. School can be difficult for some, but having concepts explained from a different point of view can make it much easier and less stressful.

Thank you for your interest!
-Brian

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

Algebra 1 is the basis of most math. The key concepts from this are used in EVERY other math class that you can take. So it is essential that this subject is understood completely. When I took this class in middle school, I was one of the few people in my class that actually understood it. Many of my friends would ask me for help, and I would help them. Some of them probably would not have passed if it were not for my help.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

Algebra 2 can be a tricky subject. I remember when I took it, I felt that it was a much bigger jump in difficulty from Algebra 1 to 2 than from Pre-algebra to Algebra 1. I remember seeing matrices for the first time and having no clue what was going on. However, after a little practice, they became one of my favorite parts of the class. I ended up doing very well in my class, all while helping out just about every single one of my friends that was in my class.
Calculus,

Calculus

Calculus has to be my favorite math class. When taking it in high school I did not completely understand it, but after taking it in college, I fell in love with it. I always helped classmates in my classes when they needed it. I find calculus to be very simple, once it is understood.
Geometry,

Geometry

Geometry can be a difficult class for some to visualize. I have about two years of experience tutoring geometry, and after my sessions my students understood the concepts better and in turn got better grades. A majority of geometry is really just knowing which formula to use and once you understand that, everything else just falls into place.
Precalculus,

Precalculus

I have found that many people find precalculus a difficult subject. I took the class in high school and did very well. I also spent the past year helping my younger sister through her precalculus class. She was in danger of not passing the class, until my parents suggested she ask me. She finished the class with a B.

ACT Math,

ACT Math

Although I never took the ACT, I feel that I am pretty strong in the areas of math that it covers. Pre-algebra, algebra 1 and 2 and geometry were all classes that I took in middle school and high school. I received A's in every class. Like I said in my profile, I tutored a friend's younger brother in both geometry and algebra 2.

Differential Equations,

Differential Equations

The only experience I have with differential equations is from the college class I took. For me, it was one of the easiest math classes I had ever taken. I finished my midterm for the class in 10 minutes and got 100%, and finished the final in 25 minutes. There are basically just simple ways to solve different differential equations and once you understand those ways you can solve any equation given to you.

Great tutor...

My daughter has worked with other tutors and she said Brian is the best. She enjoys learning from him, and his tutoring style. He has taught her so much in such a short time. We just wished we had found him sooner. highly recommend him. Thank you, Brian.

Awesome!

Brian is fantastic! I can't thank him enough for two years of work with my kid so she could pass Integrated Math III and stay eligible for CSU. Highly recommend!!!!

Remarkable!

My daughter is a Junior in High School and she came home on Monday and was absolutely bummed because she didn't understand most of the Chemistry concepts (even after working with her teacher). She has always maintained an A/B grade in all subjects. She had been stressed out all weekend as I searched for tutors in my area. I scheduled a session with Brian on Monday for today. After working with Brian, my daughter's smile and confidence was back after only one session! I am so thankful that I found Brian via Wyzant! I will definitely reach out to Brian for all of my children going forward. He is highly recommended! Thank you Brian!!

Trig identities

We proved trig identities. Brian uses easy to understand and easily flowing methods. He's very knowledgeable and can even pick out errors which was helpful because I'm quite absent minded at times. Thank you so much!

Brittany , 1 lesson with Brian

It's working

Brian works well with my son, and they have already developed a working relationship after only a couple of lessons.Very pleased.

Patient Tutor

Brian has helped me understand many concepts in calc 2. He walked me through integrals and the shell method. Brian is always on time and very respectful. He is very patient and will go over the same steps until I understand it.
